900mhz - XR9 - 1.4.x
Published (2009-12-16 04:03:00)
Yep, it was same polarization. More details is, I live in a small mountainous forested area and have a lot of 900 sectors, maybe 40 or so. In this location there is one other 900 sector close by on the other end of the channel range and a 3rd one that the client does not pull up in a site survey, nor the ap if in client mode.

4.22 is working well for us. It was and is VERY touchy to noise on the channel. But with 1.3.23b our XR9 links would drop/blip all the time it seemed. We don't see that with 4.22, but we do see higher and more peaky pings. For us higher pings was the lesser of two evils. So we stayed with 1.4.22

NAT Flakeyness?
Published (2009-12-13 23:18:00)
I have not looked yet, been busy, but I'm pretty sure that I have connection tracking disabled at all of my AP's. I'm guessing that is the problem I'll check it out on Monday.

If connection tracking is disabled NAT wont work at all... If you do not require firewall rules or NAT/masq rules, I would recommend leaving connection tracking off. I personally have connection tracking off on every AP we have out there except for one or two that are providing some NAT'ed addresses on their ethernet interface that need it.

Can someone recommend one of the 1.4.x versions that is working ok with XR9 cards? with a WAR-2 we need to link into a system as a client running 2.4 / 2x / 1.4.22r and run an XR9 off of the second slot in the WAR-2 as an AP Thanks

In general, my results have been borderline with any 1.4.x release and XR-9 cards, except on one site where there's no noise at all. Said low-noise site worked on 1.4.21 and 1.4.22

Yea, this works really well. I wish I'd saved my line/script that worked well for me. I've been having a hard time figuring out the exact parameters I used before. I am using 1.4.22, XR9, 2x, 24Mbit max rate, 16dB tx power, Short Preamble, Super A/G, 802.11g-only, Pure G. The antenna is the PacWireless 9dB Yagi Horizontally polarized. We tried vertical and it was a no go, range was very short and flaky connection.

Are you using high thresholds? With Turbo you have more bandwidth and more interference so thresholds become more critical.

I have problems NAT-ing through VDS interface. For the life in my I can not figure out what interface name I should use (vds1? tap0?) Two connected networks have same subnets so NAT is necessary.

The Server is the only version to support multiple CPU cores. Be advised it does not have wireless support. Also, depending on your needs, the free version might suffice for a router.
