Tigers Talking to Brewers About...
Published (2009-11-30 13:38:00)
According to Sports Illustrated's Jon Heyman , the Mariners rejected a trade offer of Detroit's Edwin Jackson for Brandon Morrow and Shawn Kelley. The M's are believed to covet Jackson, but Detroit's asking price is simply too high right now. As the Tigers get more desperate to slash payroll, expect them to lower their demands. http://www.rototimes.com/index.php?s...ball&type=home

Per 97.1. I hope this is more of a wake up call to show him he's not untouchable.

Can we see if we can just use the 1998 Florida Marlins jerseys to complete the effect?

This would be a dumb short-term fix to a problem that will largely correct itself after the bad contracts start to drop off the books. Selling Cabrera now means you get pennies on the dollar for one of the best hitters in the AL. It's suicidal. I'd much rather see Grandy/Jackson go, because as Nut said, they're more easily replaceable.

I'm imagine the deal starts with Gamel. I honestly doubt Grandy though as Gomez is cheap right now.

Well DB can only blame himself for over paying for over the hill/washed up/players with to many over loaded contracts and then having to eat those contracts after the players leave!!!!! I don't think trading one of your conerstone young players is the way to get out of the situation, not if you want to keep the stands full anyways!!

Finally we can put to rest all the talk about Marcus hitting 50 bombs with a full season of ABs. That's one less DH on the team. Cya, Marcus.

Can't argue with you on any of that. The one contract I don't really blame him for is Bondo, that seemed smart at the time. I honestly don't know where you go with this team. One thing you could do. If you do trade Grandy, make it contingent on including either Maggs or Willis. That way you clear a lot of space and shorten the time frame to recover from this mess.

Was listening to 97.1 this evening and they said on the news break that on an interview with Costas he said that he's trying to make it to his next birthday Jan.25th but he apparently said that he might not be around for opening day. If this news report on the radio was true, then it looks like his condition has worsened and the end may be near. I've looked for links at Freep.com and 97.1 and ...
