Talk about irony, huh? Will Hurricane Gustav crash the Republican convention? After two years of below normal activity during the Atlantic hurricane season, 2008 is turning out to be just as stormy as early forecasts predicted -- and then some. July was the third most active July since 1886, and August is shaping up as no slouch either. On Aug. 5, the Colorado State University ...

Three days after Obama gives an amazing speech at the convention, the GOP has completely stolen the spotlight. Sarah Palin has captivated the media. She is showing surprising appeal, although it is unclear it will sway voters. So far, I'd say the GOP has accomplished what it wanted--found a media darling to compete with Obama for headlines. Hell, even BHD is posting positive ...

This is from the very conservative Seattle Times, on August 10. Windfall tax lets Alaska rake in billions from Big Oil Quote: Republicans in Congress this June united to defeat a proposed windfall tax on oil companies, deriding it as a bad idea that would discourage investment in U.S. oil exploration. Things worked out far differently in the GOP ...

Just a suggestion. In case any RNC people happen to come to this site. Why put yourself through the embarrassment? Come on you know it's going to really, really, really suck. Maybe you can skip the speeches and play endless loops of Reagan home movies.

As some of you know Iran is of major interest to me. Here are excerpts from two articles that caught my eye today: Report: Israel won't allow a nuclear Iran | Iran news | Jerusalem Post Quote: Israel will not allow Iran to attain nuclear capability and if time begins to run out, Jerusalem will not hesitate to take whatever means necessary to prevent ...

But there's no confirmation yet. At least it would put someone in the mix that has executive experience.

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas... Quote: If Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin got the job as running mate for Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.), count her as one of the most surprised. In an interview just a month ago, she dissed the job, saying it didnt seem productive. In fact, she said she doesnt know what the vice president does. Larry ...

I just watched the first black person to ever take a party's nomination for President of the United States. I think we can all agree (politics aside) that this is a GIANT step forward for this country. WHen I look at the faces of black people weeping with pride, it makes me so proud to be an American, where this is possible. Way to go, America. We got this one right.

What heck is going on down there, I have seen 2 articles from some independent candidates, saying Bob Barr is the only person on the ballot for president down there? is that true, did the Dems and Reps miss the deadline to register in that state?

Hilarity ensues. (Language NSFW) If you can't make out the audio, Fox dweeb wades into protest march and tries to provoke an outburst from the marchers. They, almost to a soul, respond by telling Fox dweeb, "fuck you". One of the more generous marchers expands a little on the original theme - "Fuck you, we don't talk to Fox News." Then for the big finish, the crowd gathers around ...

I have been reading this forum now and then and see the arguments between the McCain supporters and Obama supporters. Has any of the McCain supporters really look into his health care plan? Here it is in a nutshell. Right now for those of you who get insurance through your employer, you do not get taxed on what you employer contribute toward your health care plan. McCains plan will ...
