That router tested at 90 megs of throughput in Tims tests over at SmallNetBuilder. It's odd that it's only negotiating at 10 megs for you. Have you flashed with the latest firmware? Tried giving a hard factory reset? Sure you're not reading XPs "plug and play" connection instead of the actual LAN connection?

I change the default IP on my router. I also use static IPs and have DHCP disabled. It's just one more thing somebody will have to figure out if they want to try and connect to my wireless network. I use WPA2-PSK too though.

Hello lads! So I was playing Call of duty 4 with utorrent (it wasn't downloading anything) when suddenly my ping got straight to 800. I restarted my rooter (2WIRE 2700HGV) and then my ping went normal but after 2 minutes it went back to 800 and internet started to go very slow. I called the company and they said that the problem is not on the on the connection but on the PC. I tried to check with my laptop (wireless) and it has the same...

Did you map all ports of those p2p programs in your router? Sometimes manually entering the port numbers would better than relying on a upnp to do it for you. if you did manually entered the port numbers try setting the port to lower range in the application then set the router to that range. Some isps do block higher ports for security.

I have a brand new 5Mbps up/down fibre connection with Bell in Canada... Connecting directly to the modem gives me about 4.8Mbps download and 5.25Mbps uploads... I've tried two different routers now, and both of them are giving me different issues: D-Link DIR-625: 4.8Mbps down but only 0.6-1.0Mbps up Linksys WRT160N: Only 0.6-1.0Mbps bu 5.25Mbps up - I've tried connecting to the routers both through cable and wirelessly - On the...

Something's must be wrong with the router. Have you tried to update its firmware? I'm not sure if there's an update available, but it could help.

Some routers allow you to change the LAN subnet, others don't give you as much flexibility. Not really much of a security advantage for the home user, your basic points of weakness are either physical access (can someone walk into your house and plug in their computer?) Or...wireless, that's you're big possible gap, but just enable wireless security, have it WPA or higher, sit and enjoy. ...
