Get real on Afganistan
Published (2009-12-02 13:39:00)
I've stayed out of this one since I honestly don't feel that I know what the best policy is. But I thought those who advocate getting out might appreciate this quote from Kipling in an Op-Ed piece in today's LA Times. Quote: The Afghan conflict is a war of necessity, and the troops sent to prosecute it now appear to have the means required to bring it to a successful conclusion. And though Obama's strategy will not...

The government, contrary to popular belief, doesn't control the dissemination of scientific information. The last administration held views that were wildly at odds with climate change so why wasn't any of this information released then?

Where'd be the fun of getting to the end ? That's the point ... continuous and never ending dialogue so we can take our frustrations out vocally lest our society begin to argue by way of blowing up school buses. Or burnings at the stake, dunkings to see if we're made of wood ( witches are made of wood...betcha didn't know that;that's why we get burned as opposed to drowned),crucified, or have to fight off lions in...

I don't agree with the author of the OpEd piece you quoted.
Especially this:
"And that gets us to a fear that is growing among some of the president's most ardent supporters: that Barack Obama, the fresh, think- outside-the-box leader brimming with energy and new ideas, has entered the White House and gone native."
Events seem to be providing evidence that President Obama is not a...

Q,
You mean the military employs chaplains to minister to Christian service members???? And a percentage of these Christian chaplains actually believe in the Christian faith. Shocking!!!!!!!
Now some Afghans may receive privately funded versions of a book which espouses despicable teachings like grace, forgiveness, love, self sacrifice, kindness, self discipline, moral certainty, and justice...

I'm not certain what you are getting at, but I'll take a stab at it.
I'm a non-believer, but I'm quite comfortable with saying Merry Christmas.
What makes me very uncomfortable is what you Christians have allowed your holiday to become an orgy of rampant consumerism and rapaciousness. This morning's LA Times shows people camping overnight in tents to be first in line to get into Best Buy ...
