QUOTE (qwerty @ Nov 25, 2009 -> 04:57 PM) The ones that matter, aka the teams higher ups, are the ones getting hung up on certain ages, i am certainly not the only one. It's been this way almost ever since the draft was implemented. Nothing is changing anytime soon. There is nothing wrong with agreeing to disagree, which is gonna have to be the case in this situation. Which teams are doing this? They all...

I have a hard time seeing him stick on the major league roster. It'll make a heck of a story if he pulls it off. Too bad he's not left handed.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Nov 20, 2009 -> 01:56 PM) Yes. Unless there is some sort of rule which excludes this sort of activity during the off-season. I'm unaware of one but there could be one. So I take it back, I went to our expert, Kalapse and he has indicated such: QUOTE I believe you have to transfer all players on the 60 day DL to the active roster. There is no disabled list in the offseason. You'll...

QUOTE (qwerty @ Nov 25, 2009 -> 02:50 PM) The problem with that scenario is the fictional players that are 22 and 24 with similar physical and mental skill sets would be we don't know a thing about them. At what age were they drafted? 18-20-22? If and when did they struggle, at what stages, how many years of repeats? What are their flaws? There are way too many questions to be asked. More times than not,...

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Nov 26, 2009 -> 07:24 PM) I know we never saw the slider, but couldn't Dewon Day get it into mid 90s? I seem to recall him hitting 95 or 96 a couple times. He didn't last long because his fastball was flat and his "plus-plus slider" was non-existant. Omogrosso is vastly more talented than Dewon Day. Day pitched well as a closer for B'ham in 2007, but the...

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Nov 20, 2009 -> 01:20 PM) Santo Luis, but no Shelby? Goofy if you ask me. Santo's k-rate is pretty, but yeah, his control is either non-existent at times or fleeting. Shelby... i don't know.... end of an era i guess. He always struck me as a guy who would work well near the back-end of a trade, a lot of upside, with up and down results.

QUOTE (Kenny Hates Prospects @ Nov 20, 2009 -> 12:59 PM) Say hello to your new Oakland A's 4th/5th OF! Yeah a team like them or the Nationals I could see doing that. I don't necessarily agree with it, but that must have been their assumption. Either that or they have no faith in him ever becoming a regular major league baseball player

QUOTE (False Alarm @ Nov 25, 2009 -> 08:55 AM) prepare to be bombarded by KHP with a bunch of incoherent arguments against age-relative-to-league. bizarrely, at least one of said arguments will feature jerry owens as an example. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Nov 20, 2009 -> 11:48 AM) I'm really suprised that we didn't protect Shelby. I thought this year was going to be a breaking point in terms of prospect-status for him, but the potential the Sox saw him with still exists. No way he doesn't get claimed. What about his year last year screams put me on a major league roster for a year?

We sent an interesting group of pitchers this years. Seems like a lot of these guys have a lot to prove this fall.

QUOTE (scenario @ Oct 23, 2009 -> 10:26 AM) 5'10" 190 is a midget? Not sure most people who see him on the field could tell the difference in size between CJ and either Jayson Nix or Lillibridge (both 5'11" and around 190). And fellow former SunDevil Dustin Pedroia is shorter than CJ. He does not look 5'10. He looks Pedroia-sized, I think that is a favorable listing, like CC's ...

I think shelby and long will be protected. Probably Gartrell and Cassel as well. I wouldn't protect those guys though as I don't think they'd stick on another major league team for a full-season. Long and Shelby have the best potential of that group. Omogrosso would be right there with Long/Shelby, but he's hurt and who knows if he'll recover.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Nov 16, 2009 -> 08:36 AM) Phil Rogers seems to feel that Brent Morel has surpassed Dayan Viciedo as the Sox' 3B of the future: From this article . I wonder if he actually heard anything from the Sox, or if he is just flinging s*** at the wall. My guess is the latter.
