it's true. Buddy Bell was very public in his statements that Danksy was ready even prior to going down with his wrist injury last year. Personally, i'd have him repeat AA.

I don't think he'll get too big of a contract and could be a great value. He's got nice power, hits from the left side, and seems to be coming into his own. Even if we don't move Paulie I think he'd be a nice value pick-up as a DH and that his lefty bat would help stabilize the lineup.

QUOTE (flavum @ Nov 12, 2009 -> 02:45 PM) http://www.mlb.com/milb/stats/stats.jsp?si...perwin_surwin_1 Cassel bad again. Danks--2 bb, 2 runs. You're not kidding - Cassel goes 0.2, gives up 6 ER, walking 4 and striking out none. ERA at 8.80 in the AFL so far. Danks 1-3 plus 2 BB, 2 RBI, 3 R. Still looking good. Morel 3-5, he's hitting .400 in the AFL so far. I think he's very likely trade bait....

Ugh. Danks went 0-5 with 2 K's and an error. CJ 0-4, also with 2 K's. Morel went 1-4 with a walk. Cassel & Rasner were bad. Bellamy had a scoreless inning with 2 K's. This post has been edited by CSF : Today, 06:01 PM

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Nov 6, 2009 -> 03:30 PM) What do you think of LaRoche? I definitely think he's a guy who could be available for cheap near the end of the offseason who has some nice upside. He should give you at least 20 homeruns, 35 doubles and a solid AVG/OBP. The fact that he's a lefty is huge, since it allows you to get the best OF possible for the other spot. Also, being able to play 1B would...

FWIW... When I went to AFL games last year, my first thought when watching Danks was 'holy crap is that guy tall'. In person, he strikes you as the proverbial freak athlete. Built sort of like an NBA small forward.

QUOTE (scenario @ Oct 23, 2009 -> 10:26 AM) 5'10" 190 is a midget? Not sure most people who see him on the field could tell the difference in size between CJ and either Jayson Nix or Lillibridge (both 5'11" and around 190). And fellow former SunDevil Dustin Pedroia is shorter than CJ. He does not look 5'10. He looks Pedroia-sized, I think that is a favorable listing, like CC's ...

At least to me, I get the impression that KW really likes to trade guys when he thinks their value is peaking. Thus...McCarthy gets moved for Danks before his value goes down. Carter, Poreda, Richard go for Peavy and all 3 of them struggle after leaving. Allen was moved after having a very good season. Gio got moved after a very good season. Ditto DLS. Morel, Griffith, Gonzalez all seem ...

They didn't give grades, it was actually a pretty blah piece. Just named best tools, which is pretty much been discussed here. They love Ryan Buch though. Best fastball they mentioned him, Taylor Thompson (91-93 sinker) and Kyle Bellamy (for sink and movement). "RHP Ryan Buch (8) was inconsistent all spring and in the summer after signing, but his fastball touched 97 mph in instructional ...

Cool idea. I love Sporcle... Anyway, got a 17 out of 26, which I don't think is too bad considering I wasn't even born yet when some of those picks occurred. Got all of 2000 (which is when I 1st started following the baseball draft) to now, plus Ventura, Thomas, Fernandez, Johnson, Dallaero, Wells, and Stumm.

That's a pretty good list, but I think a couple names are missing. Santos Rodriguez and David Holmberg are definitely top 25 prospects. I understand they are less advanced, but so is Upchurch and he made the list. Can I ask why Upchurch was selected over the two of them?
