valves need adjusting... have a 2006 kvf 700 with 7800km and have had to set the vavles 4 times, and those sound like the exact same symtoms as mine when valves need to be set. even though the starter is working perfectly fine, i find it starts eaier using the recoil backup when the valves are out of whack.

I can't remember if those have the weep line like the yamaha that tell you if the oil seal behind the water pump is leaking.

This quad has no mods. it is completly stock motor, filter and exhaust. I forgot to mention that it is also hard to get started. You have to crank and crank and it will finally fire. It spits and sputters until it warms up then runs fine except the backfire.

I'm guessing your putting bigger tires on it? I put a Highlifter clutch kit on my 07 brute, took it off after a month and will never go down that road again unless I go with something around 30" tires. lost to much top speed and blew three belts, hope you have better luck than I did if you go with a kit.

Probably a good idea to regulate the noise from ATV's and sleds. Cans and pipes are not needed IMO, and it just draws more attention from the non-rec vehicle community. Noise is one way to tick off people living near riding area's.

The Chain i use (well used) I got from the local arctic cat dealer. Not sure of the brand name, its not an issue with play because i do as you do when installing the chain i make sure there is play when the suspention is compressed, and my manual sayd 30-40 mm of free play, i was right in the money with about 38 mills. I was wondering if i could fab up a guide running from my engine sprocket down...

Watched it. A real nice display of people riding without helmets, riding 2 up etc. There are warning labels all over the machines warning againt that, saying it can result in injury or death. They are saying they tip over too easy? What about my sled? dirt bike? No matter what they do there will always be something. I sympathize with losses but c'mon, the one guy takes the ATV out in the ...
