How old were you when you started riding as a kid? How old are/were your kids before you let them start riding their own snowmobile on the trails and in the back-country?

Only thing I don't like about most the HMK stuff is their huge logo all over it. Just put a small simple one on the left chest and I would buy. Then again I do own their pro boa boots and the gambler pant. But that pant doesn't have HMK plastered all over it.

You didn't say what track, so a 162 is good. GenII skis are also a nice addition. Then all you need is a helmet and a turbo!! As for spare parts... the belt looks nice, but you won't need it. No reason to carry plugs. Just let the motor run through its warm-up cycle before you touch the throttle and you'll be fine. The shovel is a good idea(for when you start climbing stuff), but get a sno-...

Recently bought a Klim bag. It's huge. Been using the $20 duffel bags from Target.... they're functional, but never could get -all- my gear in there. Always carried tekvest/boots/helmet outside. Klim bag is big enough to fit everything in.

alcohol+snowmobiles+dark=bad deal. just think of it this way. how safe is it to go get drunk and drive your car. now, think of riding a snowmobile and add alcohol. not a good plan. if you do stupid crap when you drive your car drunk, just think of the stupid stuff you will do on your sled.

I'd be fine with all of this crap, if Harris just came out and said they couldn't afford to keep this place up and running and need to go to a user pay setup. Instead, this Chris dude is trying to sell everyone on sunshine and lollipops features that no one cares about. Industry "big hitters" that won't come here under the current format, will afterwards. how much for each? miles? condition? I owned a 900 poo and I wouldn't suggest one unless you are ready to tinker a lot. I don't have any experience with the cat firsthand but I know a guy that had one and never really had any issues with it.

I have a 530 HCX and love it. I ride with a human map however For me I need it because if we get seperated it will help me get back to the truck. That said I just boought a SPOT. IMO they are both for much different things. If you would like peace of mind for your family or "quicker" access to help in an emergency situation the Spot is right. If you are more likely to get lost then the Rhino. If ...

The m5 liquid will have more motor than a 550 fan will. If they kids have much experience at all, I would think the 500 will be a better choice in the deep. The 550f's are good sleds, but after about 30mph it seems like the rubberband breaks. 0-30 they are snappy, but run out of poop quickly. The 500 liquids, well, alot of old guys loved our 500's when they were the big motors on the market! They...
