Sunday Brunch at Perilla in NYC?
Published (2009-12-20 08:27:00)
I canceled the Perilla reservation for today ... with the road conditions, I just wasn't confident of getting back out to Newark airport in time for my flight. I'm afraid the airport's going to be a big ol' mess - they canceled 300+ flights yesterday! So far, American Airlines is showing my 3:55pm flight as departing on time. Fingers crossed!

Hi, I suggest 35th floor bar of the Mandarin Oriental at Columbus Circle. Great views of Central Park. I have to say that even I like to go up to the top of the Rock and look around, even if it does cost a few bucks. regards, sheryl

Boothy, December in NYC is a great time to visit, with all the Christmas decorations up and the famous store showcases in full swing, not to mention the Rockefeller Center Christmas tree. You didn't mention what type of accommodations you are interested in - hotel, B&B, vacation rental? Have you checked out these hotel reviews on our main site, SlowTrav? And also we have several rental ...

Haven't been, Colleen, but the reviews sound mainly very positive on YELP and Urbanspoon .

Kathy, luckily by Monday night you should be fine. And remember, often these nor'easters curve out at sea and end up missing us, so who knows. But I'll tell you, I love NYC in the snow - just beautiful. If you have a chance get/bring some boots perhaps (just in case). Also the Christmas Market at Grand Central, while pricey, is also indoors. Have a great weekend.

There is also a market in Bryant Park. I loved walking through the Union Square one last year! One of the vendors was selling hot pear cider - yum!

Not sure whether this is classed as a chain restaurant though there are more in the Phoenix area. Bill Johnson's Big Apple www.billjohnsons.com 3757 East Van Buren Street, Phoenix - (602) 275-2107 Its a Western type diner. Van Buren Street is right by Phoenix Sky Harbor. The Diner is near the Ramada Hotel. We found it fun for our one nighter in Phoenix bfore heading up to Sedona the following ...

Wow, Eleanor, this is a wonderful and very thorough report! It sounds as if you covered a great deal of ground, but in a very thoughtful Slow-Travel manner. I can't believe you hit snow in southwestern Saskatchewan in early June. Actually, alas, I can believe it. Prairie weather can be crazy!!! I agree, the Western Development Museums aren't terrible interesting -- I think they're a holdover ...

Hi Sandy, There are a ton of chain hotels near the entrance to DFW. (I used to work for a company based in nearby Irving.) If you have a preference for the Marriott brand (for example), I'm sure you can find several to choose from. The only airport hotel I've stayed in is the Wyndham on John Carpenter Freeway. It was fine for a business traveler; I expect it would also meet a leisure ...
