There's also a German liquor with gold flakes in it. Makes your plumbing rich (take that any way you like . Anyhow, at a Slow Foods Cesarine dinner in Venezia the first dish was a dried cod...mousse. It sounded weird, tasted wonderful, and took our hostess three days to prepare!

I love the place as well.We decided against staying in the Valier apartment(tiepolo taken) as it was only afew Euro cheaper than a very nice room at the Hotel Galleria. I'm not sure if she jacked up the rates due to the Regatta Storica or if rates are just up 40-50% since our stay last year. RR

quote: What are your experiences in this? Very true that people turn out to be food-adventuresome or not adventuresome, regardless of their background or exposure to food diversity. For siblings growing up in the same culture, same family cuisine, same environment, one could be game about trying everything, and another would be meat&potato conservative. I go lucky having lived in continents and cities that are foodie capitals: HK, SF, now...

Florence has so many strange original recepies: Ranocchi fritti (fried frog, the good ones were at Bibe) Cervello fritto (fried brain, famous the one at Omero, now probably banned after mad cow) Collo di pollo ripieno (chicken neck, including head, stuffed, hey this is at il cibreo) Speaking about cibreo, does anyone know what it is truly.

Jeff Absolutely stacks of choice, so you've got a choice of drivers: a) Let your favourite wineries guide you to the region the wine is made in e.g. Chianti, Valpolicella, Barolo, Vino Nobile di Montepulciano etc. b) Choose the region that appeals most and then discover the local wine scene. This might be Emilia-Romagna for Lambrusco, Colli Bolognesi, etc. or Rome for Frascati, Est!Est!!Est!!!, ...

Good luck ---- Last month I spent a week in Rome and then spent nearly a week in Lecce, with a couple of days in Matera in between. I drove from Rome to Matera, then to Lecce. Getting there is not difficult; however parking in those towns is impossible. Anyway --- as I didn't want to drive back to Rome (I was flying home from Rome) I looked into various train combinations, but I found they ...

I've never seen anything that small. I have seen the various griddles to make torta al testo, but I don't know what they're called. I'm sure our Italian friends - who aren't busy with Thanksgiving dinner today! - will have an answer!

Letizia, I went to Venice for carnival four years ago, and had a wonderful experience! Yes, lodging is expensive at that time of year, and it is very crowded, but it is also beautiful. First of all I would suggest that you stay in Venice proper, even though it is expensive. The evenings, after the day trippers have left, were definitely my favorite thing about carnival. It was absolutely ...

My sister & I ate there last week....it's a must-go-to everytime I'm in Venice. The pumpkin flan with asiago and pine nuts is terrific...it's rich so share it. I'm not a vegetarian but I could become one if I ate at LaZucca regularly. All their vegetable sides are divine....sometimes I make a meal outta them! You can't go wrong at LaZucca.

All your destinations look good. I personally especially like your giving time to the markets. I have a few minor suggestions: - You are an art lover and have done your research. Remember: the art treasure in Florence is rich and dense. Stendhal's syndrome is no myth. The whole art impact can be overwhelming. You may find yourself needing a longer time to take it in. (Or you may get the ...

No. According to Garmin's web site, the 755t does not come loaded with European maps. You would need to buy those separately, otherwise I'm sure it would work fine. Only the following models come preloaded with Euro maps: nuvi 1370T - $370 nuvi 275T - $270 nuvi 775T - $450 These are retail prices quoted by Garmin. You can get much cheaper with a little shopping around. We used an older...

If the hotel has a restaurant you might be able to store the cheese in their refrigerator. Also, at this time of year it is probably going to be fairly cool no matter where you are traveling (at least north of the very southern part of the country) so that will help. Obviously don't leave it in the trunk of a car all day...even keeping it under a towel and away from the sun inside the cabin is ...

Robert My Michelin Italy map suggests Venice to Napoli is 6hr24m, but AC can be 1hr+ further on (very traffic dependant). This would be all on major/toll roads and be pretty painful driving. Three options spring to mind 1) Fly to Naples & pick up car from airport 2) Train to Salerno, hire car from Salerno. 3) Drive in chunks from Venice to AC, stopping off at interesting places, seeing them ...
