Karen: I know ! I got a coveted pair of Uggs which I had asked for and they are nothing like my old ones I finally wore out. They are, however, grey paisley, which is some consolation! I usually can find El Naturalistas for about $!50, which is pretty good.Zappos stopped carrying them for some reason. I hope to find some in Barcelona next fall. They also make pocketbooks.....Uh Oh! Naots are still well made in Israel, I think and they always...

Day 3 of my worst nightmare!

Denise, my heart leaps out to you right now, wishing that there are words that heal. Your pain and your sons' must be overwhelming and there is so little others can do to help with that. Do know that even though most friendships on ST are virtual, they are very real and we do care about each other. You and your family will be on our hearts in the coming days.

Denise, I don't know you face to face of course, but I thank you for reaching out to us SlowTravelers as a community of friends. I believe it is indeed possible to feel the embrace of a cyber community. Your loss is huge, and I will be thinking of you. It is obvious that you have had a life of wonderful memories. It reinforces my feeling that, whatever you think feeds your soul, you should "do it now." Linda

My husband could certainly start a thread on searching for walking shoes that are also nice looking! His shoe count is higher than mine! Cameron

Denise, it's not true! I believe in these things: your husband's love will continue to protect you all. Thank you for sharing his memory with us. Great love deserves to be remembered.

Day 3 of my worst nightmare!

Dear Denise Please know that you are in my heart at this sorrowful time. I feel for you especially since I found my husband dead on our front lawn on Sept 22 2008. I tried to give him CPR without any success. On Sept. 18th of this year, I found our 23 year old son dead in our home. For these reasons, I feel a huge connection to you and your family. You will be in my prayers..... Sandy

I'm really stuck, Bill as I have booked a family holiday in Nice starting on 22nd December, coming back on 29th, absolutely between their strike dates and I don't have any leeway at either end because of my cottage booking here. I have looked around for alternatives (we just don't have the time to drive) and find already seats are sold out from Luton on the 22nd and very few flights to Nice at...

Brenda, I swear by these: Naot Kaylas I have a black and a nubuck pair and they are great! I recently treated myself to a pair of the " rhinestone" model but they are not quite as wonderful because they don't have a back strap. Happy shopping! jan My blog: Keep your Feet in the Street

Annie, We used Ideamerge http://www.ideamerge.com/ for our trip in 2006. It's a US based company. I don't know how the prices compare now. The process was simple and straightforward. Everyone in Nice, where we picked up and dropped off our car, spoke English and was helpful. We had reserved a diesel and that's what we were given, no changes or surprises. Brand new car, we were the first ...

Traveling in college, with two girls who were best friends. Half the trip they were friendly, I couldn't scale the wall of their friendship, and it was hell. Half the trip they fought, and they glared at each other from behind the wall of my intervention, and it was hell. So people ask me if I mind traveling alone? It's bliss.

A couple we travel with regularly went through this hassle. Unfortunately, nothing is consistent when it comes to security. At LAX he almost had to drop his pants, in Rome he said "hip surgery" they waved him on. You are doing the best you can with a note from the doctor, clearly stating this situation but still leaving time in case there is an Inspector Clouseau at the gate. I would suggest ...

Terry, I love this thread. Winter is here in full force and a little armchair travel is great. You could add " Sunrise Earth," which I mentioned last week. It's on daily, on HDTV. Linda

I've been in Belize before and really liked it. It has been years and it has developed much more since when I visited. Have you visited Mexico or Central America before? We did not visit this area or the area around Orange Walk. We were in the Cayes (Caye Caulker) and more inland around San Ignacio. You'll probably have the hardest time first adjusting to the heat. We did not have any health ...
