Thanks for the the respond pinto girl. I just purchased a Scale Buildings grandstand from Svanaken. It was what I was looking for. I'm going to build a NASCAR short oval modeled from the mid to late sixties era. It will be the first time I pulled the throttle on a slot car since I played with my brothers Eldon, Marx and Stombecker sets back in the sixties.

Most basements will have some water seepage between the foundation and the bottom of the basement walls, especially when it rains, and especially on older houses. That is why most of them have either floor drains, sumps or both. A dehumidifier is great for keeping things dry. I have a lot of books in my basement and it keeps these books from smelling like they were stored in a basement. All those other things that one applies to basement walls...

Thanks, 2fer! Yeah, I'll probably make some small things to place around the track. There are some great snack shacks on carrera4fun.de that could do with some building. I also want to do something for my pits, but my next track won't have room for actual pit garages, so I'm thinking of doing something like the Fly pit walls/booth things.

This is probably very bad advice, unless your basement is warm, A/C will not do a good job of removing moisture from it. It has to do with the dew point, relative humidity, and specific humidity. In other words you'll just make it colder, and damper feeling. You will probably also make it easier...

Cool, how much shorter did you make it slotdrift? I've been toying with a few well placed classic crossovers as there is a clear advantage if you take the outside lane on the circuit. I think I need one more digital crossover on the mountain straight to give it some added excitement. I'm eagerly awaiting the new scaley powerbase so I can get a computer hooke dup and show lap times. only problem, is where to put the screeen. BT

To much Humidity or to little are both problems. TO much and you can have mold problems. A deHumidifier isn't all tha texpensive adn you can set it up to drain into a sump hole or even a drain. running a small fan will keep the air moving. Too as I mentioned earlier putting a dust cover over a track, inexpensive yet very efficinet Painters Plastic (it comes in giant rolls) with a small incadescent lamp, even the night light/Christmas tree...

Most dehumidifiers come with a hose attachment for the tank if you wish to run one into the drain or sump. This eliminates the need to empty it from time to time. I empty the tank on mine and it is only a few gallons. In the summer, it is emptied daily. In the winter when it is drier, it is every three days or so.
Just run an A/C unit they ...

Not too sure how thick this stuff is, but it worked as a barrier for my track. Very flexible, and well came in long enough pieces for me...
The ribbing is what i was interested in. I ended up cutting it to size, and epoxying it to the table. Was able to heat it up and bend it, but those efforts met bin 13 quickly. The image came from a popular Hardware store that John Madden used ...
