One quirk of Carrera is that the extra curves only come in boxes of 180 total degrees (a full semicircle of track), unless you can find someone to sell individual pieces. It's expensive to buy multiple boxes of Carrera curve sizes just to experiment without starting with a plan that can make good use of all the pieces. It's different with Scalextric, because you can buy just two pieces of any curve size for $10.

Nicely done, also like the fact of getting the boys involved. Got to start them early. How has the rest of the track coming, scenery and all. How did the guardrails turn out and do they work? later Paulie

It is my experience that photo sharing sites that automatically shrink pictures also reduce their quality. There is photo editing software built into Windows. The Paint program that is in Start, Programs, Accessories can be used to re-size pictures. Just select Image, Stretch and Skew, then enter the same percentage for both horizontal and vertical. When the image is the size that you want hit File, Save as and enter a new file name to save...

Do you have any crossover tracks in your layout? If so, make sure you have two of them or multiples of two.

Nice present. If they are young kids you may want to move that crossover piece closer to the edge so the cars would be easier to reach.. Can't wait to see the completed project.

dont get stuck buying a lot of sets all you get is #1 curves buy a nice set and add to it my track is carrera 4 lane 170 feet long and only used 4 #1 curves on the hole layout, #4 curves are almost as fast as a straight and one more helper dont make exact radius curves start with a 3 then a 2 and back to a 3 so you have increasing and decreasing curves good luck

if you set up a mold for it and poured small amounts I could see it being done. That stuff is super hot when it is poured though. Making the mold would be the same as making a concrete form. I think it would be neat but would probably eat tires like mad.

Hi lindseyangell, good to hear from you. This would be a useful reference, no doubt about it.
I'm wondering if this is the best Forum to post the idea in.
If there isn't much useful feeback happening, maybe Club/Proxy Racing or The Paddock will work better. Let's see how it goes, the Thread can always be moved if it's going to help.
