Here's a trick that may be helpful to someone else. In the newest version of Mp3tag you can map field names to others. I'd always found Mp3tag to be awkward to use when trying to tag both FLAC and MP3 files. This is due to its use of internal field names that it maps to the actual names for different types of tags. I create a lot of Actions (actually 'Action Groups') to automate the tagging of files. The problem is that for...

Also, make sure you don't have an ITUNESCOMPILATION tag. In mp3tag add custom column with field %itunescompilation% as well as one for COMPILATION (%compilation%). In another thread someone found some ITUNESCOMPILATION tags they didn't know they had with value = 1 and that seemed to cause their problems....

Progress.... Geez I hope this helps and makes sense to some one since it drove me nuts! First off it would seem that a separate rip , extra step, from DVDAexplorer is definitely needed to WAV first as opposed to using the FLAC command line in DVDAexplorer as the FLAC frontend wants to try and add tags on its own by guessing. Using the FLAC frontend by itself afterward on the WAVs I needed to un-check "Add tags" and then get a...

In mp3tag you have a "tag" row in the weiv when you are looking at the album. It should read FLAC(FLAC) not FLAC(id3v2) indicating that you have mixed tag formats, keep th flac files tagged with vorbis comments only.

A-ha - sorry I missed something. You need to rip from DAE to WAV files, THEN convert to FLAC seperately (I use DBPowerAmp or Foobar for this). This works perfectly for me. I've never tried to rip directly into FLAC using DAE. This may be the source of your problem.

Thanks for the instructions to do this people. I must say that this works quite well. Tried it for the first time and was able to rip the audio tracks off the DVD that came with Depeche Mode - Sounds of the Universe. So now I have 3 versions of the album: A) The CD version. B) The 5.1 DTS version C) I also let Audio Extracter create a 2 channel 48khz, 24bit flac based on the 5.1 dts data. B & C were both 48khz. Some questions: 1) When...

whatever software you use, you want it to support "accuraterip" dbpoweramp and EAC do. don't know about MM. my understanding of flac is that ANY compression ratio is still bit perfect. the difference is simply encoding time, but i know very little about flac, i could be wrong.

If you are ripping to a single .wav image plus a cue sheet, it should be using the cue sheet automatically. If it isn't, make sure that you aren't excluding cue sheets under ServerSettings / Advanced / FileTypes / Disabled Audio File Extensions. If you are ripping to separate .wavs for each track, then you will have a problem because the scan skips over cues that list multiple audio files. ...

The current tag system simply does not conform well to classical music. There are many ways to try to fit the round peg in the square hole, so you need to decide which approach works best for you. Whoops, completely forgot about this. Ok, they're a little rough and ready, but here you go. Extract them both in the same directory. Then, put the ac3 file and the info file (rename them to something.ac3 and something.ac3.info) into that directory, and run ./processac3.sh It'll process the file, FLAC it, and then present you with a blank tag file (in the 'joe' editor, you might want to ...

A couple of things: 1) If you are playing a 24/96 file on 6.5.x it won't be using SOX to downsample - it will just be throwing away alternate samples which is not great. You need 7.2.x at least (from memory) for your SB3 to play/sound correct 2) If you are going to use the Touch you will need to upgrade to 7.5/8.0 (when it is available). 3) Do you have Fragile by Yes ripped in both redbook...
