It is the way the BT system works. If you were with Sky LLU you would see an immediate improvement in your download speed, but the BT system is different. There your download speed depends on the Profile set for your line. If your sync speed is maintained for a period (I am not sure how long the period is now) your Profile will rise accordingly. When it does your actual download speed will also rise. If you read these articles from Plusnet,...

Just get a magic eye and connect it to RF2, simple and under £10. How enclosed will the receiver be? They do not like poor ventilation or running hot, you may find that it fails before too long.

Convert Netgear DG834Gt LAN port...
Published (2009-10-29 16:44:00)
I have recently moved and sadly no longer have SKY but cable access only. I wish to use my current Netgear DG834GT as a wireless AP and NAT router at the new site, the Wireless AP is not a problem and have this working. Getting the NAT router to work with the cable modem is looking to be impossible as I need an RJ45 WAN port and the Netgear DG834GT is RJ11 only. Firstly is it possible to convert one of the LAN ports to be the WAN port and if...

If you have an NTE5(link below) socket get, fit and plug your router into a filter faceplate. With so much wiring it is not surprising that you are getting a poor performance. XTE-2005 Filtered Master Faceplate - ADSL Nation I have also had my GT for nearly 3 years and have had no problems. Provided it is properly used in its stand it should not overheat. In the meantime, remove the ...

Mossywell's routine was created over two years ago and the Sky Router has changed quite a lot since then. Have a look through the forums and see if you can contact Mossywell himself. He may be able to help you if he's still using Sky Broadband. Look here : http://www.skyuser.co.uk/forum/membe...ywell-352.h tml

Have you tried it with just the homeplug directly into the mains socket to see if the extension is causing it to slow?

Can't comment on the first part (you are running the app on your old sky router). As for the second...... virgin may provide a faster connection, but your wireless speed is only ever going to be as good as the router!!!! You could use both in tandem, just pug the netgear into the segam and switch of dchp on one of them.
