By the
noise margin you still have some speed in hand, phone sky and get CST to increase the speed some more.
Also how long have you been with sky.

Did you read your activation letter (assuming you have it??)? It says you start at 4Mbps and over the first 10 days go through
DLM (Dynamic Line Management). This is a training period and speed will increase so leave the router on...

i am connecting the phone wire from the socket to my router via an
extension cable. Will this make a difference
Yes, this may be causing interference which has caused your line to be capped. Plug directly into you test socket if you have one, using only the supplied cable and post your stats.

You are going to need to give some more information than that.
Post your router stats from the current position and also the TEST socket (see sig for details). Also, how are you connecting the router to the PCm if by wireless then try a sppedtest from this site again with a wire.

It looks like you have gone through or are still going through DLM. If it has finished, it has capped your line.
Best set is to call Sky and ask.

that way inclined!

I have an attentuation of 53 and can connect at around 6.5mbps/1.1mbps down/up. If your wiring is
up to scratch I can't see you wouldn't get at least 7mbps.
The first thing O2 do when you're activated is to test your line for the maximum speed it can handle, regardless of what package you've selected.

Ignore the IP location, it won't affect the connection...
Regarding the speeds, it's probably DLM kicking in so a move back to GDMT would benefit you, give Sky tech a call on 08442 410
515 and go through troubleshooting for a slow connection. All things being equal you should get to CST (Customer Solutions Team) and they can adjust your line with you on the phone. Can take a while to get to ...
