That's right, I remember reading a CAI news sheet advising any system with over 5 pieces of equipment connected should be earthed. Thats not a lot really when you consider that the TV, Sky receiver and DVD are three so throw in a couple of bedroom TV's and your easily getting there.

Try deleting the series link and recording, then put it back in. I have had no problems with this program. There was a time when C5 changed and you had to delete all the recordings you had set up and reset them, but this was a while ago, last December I think.

Published (2009-11-23 22:14:00)
I have had an HD telly longer than the sky HD box (mainly for my love of the xbox. (Sony Bravia 32" W or U I think series) I can hand on heart say I BARELY notice the difference in quality between SKY 106 or 170 (or the BBC/ BBC HD). My box is outputting to 1080i, via HDMI lead to telly which reports 1080i being delivered. I think some of us just don't see the difference...

I'm just wondering if there is a Amstrad specfic box problem which manifested when they started the roll out and have halted it while they get it fixed.

You'll obviously have checked your Signal Strengths, and hopefully they'll be OK. I've read a fair number of complaints on the forums about this problem, and sadly it has to be put down to a transmission problem, with some very bad weather recently. All boxes seem to have been affected, although Amstrads are mentioned more than most. No idea why. I had the same problem on my Thomson box two...

You will only notice the difference between 1080i and 1080p on fast-moving shots. Plasma and LCD screens don't scan - they are updated a lot faster than the old CRT screens, but on fast-moving action you can get a big difference between the odd and even frames of the picture, which show themselves as ragged verticals on an interlaced picture.

OK. Remove the viewing card, then switch off the box at the mains. Reboot, and, when prompted, correctly re-insert the viewing card. Also, make sure that Instant Rewind is set ON . Press Services>Options>Sky+ Setup. Make sure Instant Rewind has a value in minutes. If already setup OK, switch it OFF, and make sure you Save Settings. Then switch it on again and Save Settings again.

Don't hold your breath, lol. Aside from the emails, pamphlets etc, the Sky+ HD Guide appearing on Anytime is a useful indicator.

You just need to pair the existing card to the HD receiver, just try to go on a HD channel and ring the number that comes on the screen to say you cannot watch it.
