The copy+ program works on your PC by reading the data on the Sky+ drive and then you can save it on your PC and then copying it back onto the new drive. This means the drive also gets formatted correctly. If you use a hard drive caddy you can use your PC to store the drive image and then swap the drives over in the caddy, On my Sky+ and HD boxes the drives spin all the time, it's normal.

If you have a 5.1 amplifier, why don't you use an optical connection ? Much better !

No Stereo Sound
Published (2009-10-30 21:16:00)
A conversation with a friend who is a TV engineer has clarified the problem. The fault is actually one speaker is not working at all and the other speaker is working properly. This results in a sort of weird one sided stereo. Even setting mono in the Sound Settings menu still produced no sound from the right hand speaker. On his advice I managed to isolate the fault to the Sky box TV scart socket, by connecting the TV via the VCR Sky box...

Question regarding single lnb
Published (2009-10-30 19:31:00)
You have a few options depending on what you can/are allowed do. 1 - Fit a standard Sky dish and just run in the feeds from that (this would be the easiest and cheapest depending on the dish location. 2 - Speak to the management to see if there is a spare feed at the head end that you can utilise and run a cable from there, this is also a cheapish option. 3 - Fit a stacker/destacker, again this will have to be fitted by the management company...

Remote Record - Your Questions...
Published (2009-11-03 14:36:00)
I've recently created and released an Android application for sending remote recordings to your Sky+ (HD) box from your phone. It uses your mobile Internet connection rather than sending text messages. It's called Remote Recorder and I've created a trial version that allows 3 recordings to be sent from it. The application is still under development, but there are people using it every day to set up recordings. Please feel free...

Hmmm, a little clue as to what happens when you try to record would help. What happens, any error messages, what sky box do you have, make model. There was a recent sw download which 'broke' Pace Sky+ boxes where the HDD had been updgraded (easily fixable).

This does look like an excellent feature but I had real problems registering for this, and even now it works if I send a text message but I cannot use the sky.com TV listings to start Remote Record. Whenever you click the button to record a problem it says you are not logged in (even though you are?)

Are you using an LG recorder? This problem has been widely reported with this particular make. One solution found was to swap the SCART outlet you are using on the Sky box. Might not work but is worth a try. Another way is to use a device which hides the encryption, I am not sure if they are legal, but they are expensive. I seem to remember a similar, but not the same problem was overcome ...

power down the box and wait 10 seconds and power it back up. That usually fixes most things. If that don't work a call to Sky may be in order for a box swap.

Do a planner rebuild. Services 4 - 0 - 1 - select, go to housekeeping. If you have the new HD EPG it is 0 - 0 - 1 - select A planner rebuild will not delete anything.

Only HD boxes with the new programme guide have a single feed capability. Anytime should work, but will only download new programmes when you're not viewing the box or using it to record.

It is possible an upgrade for your Sky+ box was sent down which clashed with the recording, the time looks about right. It is not only HD boxes which have upgrades. You don't have a record of your old FW version do you? You could compare it with the one you have now. If you post your current version, maybe someone could say whether it is an upgrade.
