It is a FowardVideo EzTv SatBox Audio Capture|Video Capture Apologies for the double post, I had to edit the first post as I had forgotten to mention that only 1 of the dish feeds was connected up. I didn't realise it had made to seperate posts.

Sky protection plan.

Companies make a lot of money out of protection plans. That's why people like Currys and Comet are so eager to sell them. I've had a Sky box since the late 1980's, and I've never had to call Sky out. When a box has been broken beyond economic repair, I've bought a new one to replace it, and I'm still in-pocket.

I must say I think Sky Protect's pretty good value actually. We had three things go wrong with our Sky last year - the box was playing up, the connection was damaged by a storm, and somebody poured coke into the box (don't ask). Every time they came out quickly and cheerfully, explained the problem, and either fixed it or gave us new equipment. The fuss we get when Sky's not working I reckon the reassurance is worth it. I know...

Sky+ card causing problems?
Published (2009-11-23 10:41:00)
My Sky+ keeps going wrong in that every morning and every evening I have to wait for it to come on although I put it into standby before going to bed and leaving for work. It just will not come out of standby for at leat 5 to 10 minutes. However, last Wednesday the card got screwed up and the machine could not read it. I rang sky and they are sending me a new card. Meanwhile I am just watching the FTA channels. What is really odd is that the...

What is the make and model? Also, please don't ask the same question in a number of threads, people will not know which one to follow.

box has recently started crunching constantly when in standby mode and is reluctant to switch on. Once switched on after a few minutes the crunching stops. Anyone experiencing the same or has any ideas. Box is two years old and never had this problem before.

Yes, you should still be able to get the deal. If you didn't really want HD, you could get an installer out to swap the receiver for £65.

Just get a freesat box. They start from around £50. If you buy from ebay, you'll be taking a risk that it may be a faulty unit.

This sounds as if the box is on the way out. Is it a Thomson by any chance? It might be a failing Power Supply Unit (inside box). Go to Services 4,5 to find the manufacturer of your box.
