You connect the extension to the unfiltered terminals (they are marked A and B on the filter faceplate)
You may still need a plug in filter if you also use a phone at the extension, but if you do not, then a modem cable (the one that comes with the
sky box would work) is all you need, you then plug in your phone in at the filter faceplate socket.

Is it true that with these external

Do you have any extensions connected to your
current master socket faceplate? Remove any wire not connected to connectors 2 and 5 (specifically if 3 is connected).
If you have extensions then a filtered faceplate such as this ADSL Nation LTD. may improve things but the simple step of removing the ring wire as above would be the easiest solution to start with.

Connect to the test socket and post the stats like you have already, you are looking for an increase in speed if the speed does not increase then an increase in the
noise margin.

On the face of it yes, but could you check that with the faceplate removed, there is
no dial tone on any extensions connected to that line.

Run-it Direct do ADSL extension kits which work with a filter faceplate. Have a look on their site.
