I've redone the homepage to make the site offerings even more obvious: http://www.altogetherchristmas.com The crafts section is sparse because I've just launched the site and haven't had a chance to add everything yet. This site looks like it has some good content. I think the biggest issue that you have is matching the style of the site to your target market. Who is included in your target market? (if you answer everyone, you have no direction, even if you say people who like Christmas, you have to broad a focus. It appears to me that you are targeting people who like to make crafts, socialally oriented, hosts/esses) Why is this site attractive to those...

i'm not a web designer - just an average user.
i wont even pretend to understand the actual purpose of this site - i'm guessing that there might be some money to be made from sending porn-seekers to the site, but i can't imagine any other reason someone would find themselves on the site or ever visit it.

Overall, I really like the design of this site. It's very sleek and well done, and the layout is good.
However- and I don't know why- it feels as if something is "off" about the top half of the page. I think it's because you flushed the tabs to the right instead of to the left or centered. The way they're aligned now seems to put everything off balance.

The colors and layout is good but you have a few problems. The menu has a couple of issues. First, you don't need images. You could use text and that would load quicker. If you want to keep images, pre-load them so it's smooth when you mouse over them. Change you css so it works in Firefox. My pointer doesn't change to a hand on the menu item mouse over. It also takes a while to load.

I really like the post it on the upper right side of your site. I think it is very cool
I like to color schemes looks good and the fonts are easy to read.
The simplicity of the site is what makes like it. It has a clean and nice layout
There's one thing I would like to tell you: the links in the footer section is bit too dark (consider to lighten it up)

You're basic design is good, but it's looking a little bit plain, you could do with an image or two to liven it up a bit, e.g. an image in the Manager Of The Month section.
I'm not keen on the way the Our View of The Week section scrolls separately.
If you could bring a snapshot of some of the important info onto the home page, e.g. animated newsheadlines, some of the score info, ...

At the moment, I think this is taking up too much page height before you get to the important page text. I would think about combining Page Title Bar and Main Photo Page into one.

the phrase "thrown together in a couple of minutes" is a statement usually applied by people that have no idea what theyre talking about so I wouldn't take that to heart.
My notes from a quick look: Personally I find the top banner really intrusive and annoying, i think it adds a cheapness to the site which you dont want and the space can be used by yourself to add creative aspects
