Not to me. She didn't wear her welcome out, and she brought much needed energy, especially in the post-Flo years. The interaction between her and
Vic Tayback is classic. Plus, everytime she appeared, the audience gave her an applause. They didn't get tired of her either. You could tell she was in high demand.

From what I understand, it was a similar situation to what happened with
Polly Holliday: Clashing egos.
Ironically, Diane Ladd played Flo in the movie the show was based on, Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore . It must have been weird for Diane Ladd to have originated a character and later play the character replacing the character she originally played.
Go figure.

Look up the yearly ratings Sol, for a better picture of how "Alice" did. The years it was on Sunday nights, "Alice" was usually a Top 10/Top 20 performer.
