if that's the case then yes, yes you can stuff the entire transformation into one attribute what i did for a proof of concept was i made a custom attribute on a control curve that would do the transform for the left arm. i used set driven keys to key the parent constraints. i made two parent constraints on each piece, one on a bone and one on a piece of geometry. since the bones for the arms and legs would be tied to IK this seemed like...

Using profile curves, cutting planes, and booleans... Here is a couple of short videos I made for another user describing how to use profile curves, to make cutting planes which can be used with the polygon boolean operation to cut up a polygon pipe. Booleans are very powerful and get a much undeserved bad reputation. I use them all the time. I come from a nurbs / hard surface background and in surfacing applications like Rhino, and...

open hypershade, and look at the shaders in the model, you should only have 3 from what i see in your scene, Your default lambert shader, and the two image planes. look at the attributes for the lambert, see what the setting on the transparency node is. from your second screen shot, it looks almost like you have the transparency in your default lambert set to full. quote: Originally posted by ben hobden when you say render stuff out in layers, do you mean that you can render say, just the floor, and all the computing power will go into just that, and then say, the background, the paint effects etc all seperately... Yes. If its not in the layer it won't be considered, sooo don't forget about your lights and such :x. You can even customize the render settings per layer. quote: Originally posted...

Wait, where are the n-gons?
EDIT: Oh wait, do you mean the 5-sideds? those aren't that bad. The reason why N-gons are usually considered bad is because of animation (they deform strangely), but for something like this, there is absolutely no reason not to N-gon until the cows come home.
EDIT #2: Unless it screws up the smoothing, haha.
