Which would you get? I pretty decided I would get one, but not sure on the barrel length. The shorter barrel is cheaper, but the heavier weight of the 590A1 would make the shorter barrel and shorter mag tube a handier, lighter, yet stout shotgun.

Choate is the only one I know of making mag extensions for 20ga.
Remingtons. My son has a 20ga. with a 21" barrel and wants a mag extension. I havn't yet so I can't give you any lengths. I'm sure someone here will though.

Pending on your usage rate of this weapon? For home defense used rarely than by all means should serve you well. But if active- say 3 gun shoots or for professional use I would steer clear. If your budget only always for this price range seek out the Mossberg 500/590. If your allowing for a little more to spend than seek out the
Remington 870, for any serious work. Ron Kontowsky

It is not for the timid, you may destroy the hand guard if you make a mistake. I am at work now so I cant post pics yet. I'll try to get some and post them tomorrow. BTW, I used the ...

You can find used 1100s for really cheap. Getting the barrel cut down will cost you very little at a decent gunsmith, and extended mag tubes are readily available.
All things considered, you could easily have an 1100 tricked out for HD for $400. I know that wasn't what you asked, but it is my recommendation. Also, I recommend an 18" barrel. Those extra 4" make a real difference in close ...
