Hello, I posted elsewhere in the forum and am deciding to go with a Super Nova, so next is the type of ammo this gun can fire. I know it can shoot whatever 12 gauge ammo is available, but what about slugs? i noticed that for slugs, there are sabot, 00, rifled, smoothbore? I'm not sure what the Super Nova is... I'm planning on getting the 28' 12-ga Super Nova if that helps.....

I have watched a number of individuals post inquires about the best most accurate slugs, only be greatly disappointed after trying them . What ? How come ? This isn't even close to what the manufacturer promised.........Sorry. The bottom line is that neither the shooter nor his equipment is capable of duplicating the ammo mfg's group. It will be a rare occurance, IF IT EVER HAPPENS ....

Hey guys, I have been looking at getting a new stock set for my 11-87. I have my eye on a few different ones from Bell & Carlson. Anyone have/used one from them? It seems like they make a good product. Thanks

I take from what was stated earlier that diameter to length determines if it has to go with a faster rate or a slower rate. Since the STI is the longest of all sabots/slugs-why can it shot out of 1-28 to 1-35 rate of twist with less problems than the subcalibers. Maybe even the IDS does similar?

My slug shooting in the past has been limited to smooth bore slugs out of an Auto-5. I now have a Browning Gold ahd recently set it up with a rifled cantilevered barrel and a Leupold 3-9 shotgun/muzzle loader scope. When sighting in, does letting the barrel cool between shots help? Also, assuming I don't flinch and have a good rest, what type of groups should I settle for? I know I...

I have searched for quite some time and have been unsuccessful. What are the calibers(270, 308,458???) of the various shotgun gauges? _________________ US Army Retired LM: NRA, GOA, MOAA.

I boxed up my 11-87 and sent it off to Dennis at DA-MAR Gunsmithing today. There going to be pinning a 23 inch Badger barrel, re-crowning the barrel, cleaning up the trigger, hand lapping the bore, lengthing the forcing cone and installing there scope mount. Seem like good guys. Im real picky with my smiths and the work they do, I will post full range reports and pics when I get it back....

Is that a 3.5" chamber model ? My first choice would be a cantilevered scope mount system if you can find one for that model.

I'm going to drill & tap my reciever & barrel on my 870 as well as drilling & tapping my reciever for an optic mount. If anyone has photos of their pinned barrels please post them as I would like to see the number and location of the holes and a view of the pinning hole from the inside to see how close to flush the screws were ground. Also, if anyone knows, are both the barrel and reciever...

Spent the day testing various ammo. 20 gauge H&R/Hastings USH, 3-1/2" chambered, with Nikon Slug hunter 3-9 w/BDC on Millet steel mounts. All results were at 100 yards. 5-shot groups. 72-78 degrees F, little noticeable wind. Barrel was cleaned after each shot and allowed to cool 5 minutes between shots. Used a lead-sled with 30lbs of lead ingots added. Recoil was not a factor with any of the ammo...

Found this on a different message board. I would like to know what length of barrel this was calculated off of as I think the effect would be greater the shorter the barrel. Quote: In the July issue of Field & Stream there is an article called "The Accuracy Revolution" where they tested several rifles to analyze different areas that contribute to accuracy. Lock-Time...
