Yes, it is wrong, jb. The latter insures the continuity of the former. The Founders understood this. There's a very good reason that the Founders made it #2 (immediately following #1 and ahead of the remaining . That didn't happen by accident.

Quote: When did the Marine Corps stop being the "Old Corps"? I joined in '87, retired last year and I guess I must have missed it. A good friend of mine once told me that he thought the whole new Marine Corps mentality could be traced directly to when they started serving flavored yogurt in the chow hall. The "Old Corps" ended in 1976, after Vietnam, when it was forced to accept new rules for training,...

This is a great discussion between folks who have been there. I learn much from those with service background. We WILL NOT and should not turn Afghanistan into molten glass in spite of what some here think. If Bush wouldn't do it, Obama certainly will not. We fought Korea to a stalemate and South Korea is, 50 years hence, a booming democracy.North Korea a dangerous dictatorship. We gave up in Vietnam and its a stable communists country....

Bibles, guns and newspapers are all constitutionaly protected items. It amazes me that people will tolerate such flagerent infringements of their 2A rights that they would never accept if applied to their 1A rights.

I'm curious about something. The 4A reads as follows: “The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.” The 4A...

I haven't heard about this story until now... this type of stuff isn't even newsworthy here. Truth is, institutionalizing him in a facility that can deal with his problems might as well be prison anyway.

You don't have a point, do you? This is a book tour. She is concentrating on places where she is likely to sell a lot of books. Marin County and the Florence and Southgate areas of Los Angeles, Amherst, MA, and most of Chicago don't strike me a great places for Palin to sell books. I'd like to see the President in front of a hostile group too, just to see how he does.

Quote: Ask questions. What if the other party refuses to answer questions; instead, eoorneously suggesting that they are rhetorical questions, trick questions or otherwise not worthy of an answer? I guess that response probably falls under Rule 4, doesn't it? Quote: Describe possible outcomes of a point of view. I agree. But isn't that a sort of slippery slope ? Great topic, ...

I was not aware that the trials would be open to the public - or the media. I was under the impression that the trials would be closed, like many espionage trials, as much classified information will have to be presented. This perplexes me.
