Cracked nylon/fiberglass stock...
Published (2009-12-20 12:10:00)
I just bought one of the old Remington lever action .22 with the nylon/fiberglass stock that came out in the early 70's, (I think that most of them where automatics), and the stock is broke right above the trigger. Does anyone know what type of glue or if there is any type of glue out there that will bond this stock? It is a clean break and the receiver sleeve will cover the crack after repair so it will be very hard to see after repair....

front sight band
Published (2009-12-21 20:15:00)
I'm considering swapping my -06 from my low-powered scope to irons. It doesn't have a front sight, and I'm looking at brazing on a banded front sight. I'm no stranger to brazing/soldering/welding, but I do have one question: Will it change the barrel harmonics very much? It shoots very well, but I've got a minor concern that it might have a detrimental effect on the barrel harmonics and go from a sub-MOA rifle to a...

My uncle had one of the Nylon 66s that he finally broke the stock on. He got some 2 part epoxy and kept piling it on until it looked like heck! Fixed it right up even if it didn't look too good. My cousin still has it and takes squirrels regularly. HWD

Nazi Stamped Mauser/Opinions Wanted
Published (2009-12-26 23:27:00)
Hello All, My dad has a .30/06, 98 Mauser with Nazi stamps; in what I would call Sporterized/Destroyed condition. This rifle is a mess except it will shoot clover leafs at 100; "see-through" mounts, chin pressed firmly atop the cracked battered stock and well, this thing is a damn mess. The bolt was bent and when discovered to be hollow; filled with solder. When he traded his beautiful, sporterized Danzig 1918 with Williams...

Not all that familiar with the M70, but I belive it's a cock-on-closing with a rotating extractor. If so, the extractor should rotate (not all that easily) around the bolt until you can re-insert the bolt.

Millett makes rings that are compatible with a weaver base, and have a substantial windage adjustment capability built into them. Re-center the scope (count the turns from full left to full right and go back halfway), then adjust the rings until you're close. Fine-tune it with the scope adjustment.
