nice guns.. quality still matters .. i had one snubby,, that so much went wrong with it while i carried it for ccw[2 wks].. i really don t think it would hold up to useing it for a nice tool to reshape a bg s head.. mike you still young an stout.. at 55 i thought it would never end..time comes to us all if we are lucky enough to stick around ,,that we really start feel the lack of confidence.. if part of our person entailed being willing to...

Quick- S&W advice wanted
Published (2009-10-31 11:48:00)
An update - it is a 5" 38spl, 5 screw M&P. The s/n on butt matches the number on rear of cylinder and underside of barrel - c 103XXX. Previous owner engraved social sec number on edge of grip frame (covered by grips). Grips are incorrect, smooth S&W magna grips are installed. I brought it home. Andy

Mine is a 3" GP100. Nice and heavy and an extra round. I think my new winter carry piece might have to be one of the new 4" Redhawks either in 44Mag or 45LC

Good post. I've used a weightlifting glove when first messing around with 300gr. bullets in the .45 Colt. That was with a standard Blackhawk and they are pretty light with the aluminum grip frame. Switched to the steel-framed Bisley and find it much easier to handle.

Taurus Judge - Page 2 - Shooters...
Published (2009-10-30 20:16:00)
I am curious why anyone would shoot a Judge double action? I guess reason I am asking is the son in law was with me when I was shooting mine. He took it and never bothered to cock it. Took him forever it seems, to pull the trigger. I finally asked him why. He looked at it and said he guessed he was just used to shooting his glock. He enjoyed shooting it much better once he went to cocking it. Just curious....

.44 mag pistol in rifle

Is there any difference in .44 mag handgun ammo or rifle? If so, any danger shooting one in the other? Regards, Bill

(QUOTE) #2 This one was a friend of the family, who has also passed, but ran a small corner store in the 1930’s and 40’s. Would sit under the counter, close at hand, and make the trips to the bank and home every day. Today, the .38SW isn’t really considered a viable option. There are probably still thousands of these old top breaks left as most of them had a life much like this one: lots of carry, little shooting....

Not in that gun...or any other old US top breaks...but it can be loaded in a strong modern gun to claw its way up to standard .38special ballistics. Put the same effort into reloading a .38speical and you come out the same proportion ahead of the .38SW. Best to leave the old top breaks alone...they had a time, but that time has past. For whatever reason, even POST WWII, S&W made K-frame .38SW's. Was a pretty good size order to...

slim 60 I'm a small man myself. I tend to fight dirty because of that. For sure am NOT going to let a big feller take advantage of my size. I also won't shoot someone cause he's big. I just go to work so as to feed my family. Then go home and enjoy my home. Cheezywan

Slim; I know how you feel......I can relate. As a young man, I feared nothing...was quite the "scrapper". The older I get the more I realize, that I am not the man I once was! In 2010, I'll buy a 1911 and now in France we can buy Kimber 1911. We have only few models as the tritium sights are not allowed in France. The models are: - Custom2 for 990€ - Custom Target 2 for 1090€ - Gold match 2: 1590€ - Royal 2: 1190€ - Stainless 2: 1150€ - Team match 2: 1790€ As I prefer black pistols and adjustable sights, I think the Custom target2 is a good choice....

The serial number should be on the bottom of the butt. The numbers on the crane, cylinder and inside the frame where the crane goes are all assembly numbers that normally do not match. The price sounds OK to me. Not a steal, but a good enough deal...it's hard to find a S&W for less than $300.00. The round front sight is appropriate for a gun of that era. I am assuming it is a civilian, ...

You will get other answers, but I've always considered the Judge to be a solution in search of a problem. In a confrontation, if they are close enough that small shot will stop them, you are close enough to make solid hits with single, large projectiles. Surprisingly to some, shot loads don't spread much at very close range. You can still miss.

about 0.052" and a few hundred fps. Beyond that you're gonna get into HIGHLY disputed territory. Fasten your seat belt! Personally, I love the 45 acp, but most of my carry guns are now 40 SW.

First, 1963, a guy was shooting at swallows on a high power wire about a quarter mile away over the swampy area behind Sandbridge, above Back Bay, with a 22-250, when we walked up. Asked him if he had hit any and he said no. I said, "I can," and raised the 4" barreled 2nd generation Woodsman Sport. Pow, pow... swallow dropped. Guy with the rifle went nuts. Said it was a one in a million shot...

Depends on the gun...I have some custom dark gray and red laminated wood on my Smith & Wesson mod 28....Rasco gray and dark purple on my custom 1911. I love the Punisher grips very cool looking. I never went that route for the sole purpose that if I ever ended up in court I could see an attorney trying to use that against me
