Some General guidelines/tips to meet prep and lift selection 1) You must strive to duplicate contest conditions as closely as possible in the last 2-3 weeks prior to. This means training at approximately the same time of day as the contest ( sucks when you are used to training at 7pm and the meet starts at 9am) You also need to include some forms of all three lifts in each workout, even if it is opening singles. You need to do the lifts in...

squat till you puke

I did this a couple times, not this summer, but the year before, 2008, when I was doing 20rep squats at home... I finished up the supersets, sat a minute, then went to the toilet and puked... Mighta had something to do with eating ACV spinach shortly before lifting, too.

I found dips really work my MMA triceps. Quarter squats are also great for MMA glutes. Never do full squats, that'll give you Powerlifting glutes--you don't want that.

Diet advice in S&P! (gasp!) If you take EC, stop for 6 days, take it on day 7 to get the feel of the kick, stop until the meet, and take the same dose the day of the meet. You will rip babies. Also, if you are taking the standard 5g of creatine, take an additional 5g of it fasted in the morning with liquid protein/carbs (e.g. maltodex). What time of day is your meet, what time do you usually train, and how is your energy throughout the...

I used to do a lot of accessory grip work + DOH until I couldn't anymore, then mixed for the rest of my sets. After about 2 years I don't do any support grip work, and always use mixed grip even for my warmups. IDK maybe I'm lazy but after some sort of RSI on my fingers from using my grippers too much I just gave up on the whole thing and haven't noticed any negative side effects. That said, I do deadlift a bit more often...

His guidelines and INOL formulas seem like a pretty arbitrary and not that useful interpretation of Prilepin's table. The Olympic lifts and the powerlifts are very different animals and will respond differently to training volume and intensity. Prilepin's study noted when bar velocity begins to drop which is very relevant to weightlifting but not that relevant to powerlifting (unless considering ...

But really, would be there be any reason why I shouldn't?
You should not use the foam tube on the bar. This thing is useless. If you get the bar straight on the back, you'll be able to better position it in the right position. Your skin will not get a beating from it, especially if you use beginner weights, and what little disconfort you ...
