It's extremely limited. You focus more on the self defense moves from Gracie JJ and what you'd normally consider a white to blue belt curriculum. You get very little in the way of reps. I went through the Army Combatives program, eventually becoming a level 3 instructor. I was "familiar" with many of the BJJ moves when I finally started, but nothing compared to the depth of understanding that a solid blue belt (or...

I have grown tired of pouring over countless books about bjj, aikido, judo, american combatives, knives, swords, vital points. I do not know how to study so that I can learn alot quickly. Should I take my book and practice as much as possible on someone? Is this the best way? What other ways are there for me to learn. Any katas out there to help me inprove? Aside from that, does ...

Why is there not a thread in the grappling fourm where Sherdoggers could share there grappling matches? Just to show how you are and see how all the diffrent members styles are. Also to get creative Criticism to help improve your game, a problem that you might be missing but fresh eyes who has never seen you could point out. Is there anyone who would be intrested in this? Just ...

what do you guys think of the 'stalling' guard break? especially in no gi, say someone pulls guard, what do you guys think of just putting pressure on the biceps/arm pit, and maintaining posture or keeping them down with your head against their chest? and everytime they sit up you push them back down with your head or your arms, then...

Just curious if anyone else has heard of this rule....I was told by a BJJ BB that this is the rule in Brazil. I know that most likely a Judo BB is at a Blue Belt level, but it seems odd to me to automatically grant them a Blue Belt. I mean it doesn't cross over like that for us in Judo (I don't believe) and it doesn't apply to Jujitsu BB.

YouTube - Ryan "Triangle" Hall vs Mike Wacker Do people here feel like this is stalling? I do. I think the guy blatantly stalled the entire time after he passed because he was scared to get triangled or leglocked. Especially at the end.

Hey Guys, Just as the title says I'm moving to Brazil for 6 month to train. I'm super excited but it's been a long road of getting everything put together. I prefer open guard to closed guard bc my opponents always focus on getting into side mount quickly so it leaves me space to sink in a submission or a sweep. Or I can hip out a lil to get to where I wanna be. I wanna start utilizing my De la Riva, and Butterfly guard more. What about you?? Which one do you usually prefer to use? And why?
