tested in my test environment i installed a client as unmanaged set the hart beat to 100 mins exported the client install settings made the clent manged updated with 20 mins i'm sure liveupdate nothing to do with heartbeat. any inputs? Rafeeq

Not scientifif proof or anything, but I've now pushed our standard packages via the wizard to two DEFAULT standard, no modifications at all Windows 7 installs. I used a desktop and a notebook, installed Win7 CLEAN from scratch on a formatted drive. I accepted all defaults. I joined the domain. if you can check the application event viewer, you will get the information. something like this "New virus definition file loaded. Version: 111202f." or also you can check the SEP client system logs for the information.

Sorry I forgot to add that you should check out this guide http://seer.entsupport.symantec.com/docs/331071.htm . It talks more abotu heuristic dectection and how to set the sensitivity level higher so you don't get as many false positives (keep in mind you don't get as good of protection, there is always this trade-off). sep is not scanning the usb automatically. For its not recommended to scan usb once inserted because there will be might a problem during accessing files especially if you have large usb capacity.

If SEP automatically sets up exclusions for AD and Exch, why not automatically for SQL? Does SEPSBE 12 do the same thing? Does anyone have other recommendations for other DB's like Quickbook or Peachtree?
