What is your Primary lookup key set to? Look in Tools > Options > Global Is it by any chance set to MAC Address and nothing else? If this is the case then my second question is: Do you have a NIC team on the server that you want to run the job on? Because if this is the case you have a virtual MAC on the team and that MAC doesn't exist when you PXE boot. So you could turn on Serial number as a primary lookup key as...

You should be able to enable security and tweak the permissions. The other way would be to utilize DSWEB (the web interface). This seems to be an easier way to restrict this, however, it can be cumbersome to use.

Has anyone created a Windows XP Table Edition 2005 SP 3 image for this model? If so could you post your Sysprep.inf file for reference. All the articles I find show Windows XP Professional as the installation media. Could these versions be so different? I have updated the Intel Matrix drivers for Win PE and will post those findings as soon as I test the system on Monday. I am guessing at this point that this could be a major point on to the...

You might check the event viewer for any errors. It sounds as if one or more relevant services is crashing. If you can determine which service is crashing, you might be able to set the recovery to restart the service on failure.

Hi, back again.
for everybody who has the same issue..
On the Altiris server the default setting for the new agents was 'encrypt session communication with the DS server'.
So when a new client was booted, it got an agent update, the applied the encryption settings and bye bye.. no communictation.
Strange thing is that only the CE6 terminals have this issue.. CE5 still works with ...

How does one allow rips which were converted to MSI via RapidInstall to run on Windows 2008? It appears that Altiris forces the pre-reqs in the original RIP into the MSI which means that last OS it can be installed into is 2003. How can one remove the OS pre-req?

BAT or CMD should work. From what I can tell it is a standard batch script.

I'm not 100% certain, but I believe each DS has to have it's own database. I don't believe you can tie more than one DS to the same database, at least not with 6.9. I'm not sure what's changed in 7 though.
I would imagine you could set up two database servers and two DS's and have the SQL database synchronized. Being as the secondary data center (DR site) is mainly off-line unless ...

If the password is greater than 8 characters, this can cause a problem in DOS. You either need to change the password to less than 8 characters or switch to Linux or WinPE.

First, well done. Making HII images within 2 months of using DS is pretty good! So, you've done the hard part. The easy part is deployment - DS natively and transparently can handle the multicast if you let it.
To explain, when you drop an imaging job onto a bundle of computers (say 10 for the sake of argument) Delployment Server will select from one of those clients the master. It ...

Hi,
Not sure if I understand you correctly.
You could use DISKPART to delete any existing partitions on your VM.
The way you do that is as follows:
Create an answer file that Looks something like:
select disk 0
Select partition 1
delete partition
Place it in \\ALTIRIS_SERVER\ express\scripts and call it clearpart.txt
Create a RUN SCRIPT task in your job...
