of this mask. Of all the masks I've tried this is my favorite. There has been no problems with fogging or leaking for me, however I spent some extra time prepping it prior to using it. A Bic lighter and sea buff works wonders.

The normal toothpaste routine won't work and you'll need to repeat it 3-4x to get the film off the inside to prevent fogging...at least that was my experience with the mini. I've since learned this is typical for the Shadow and mini to need a super-clean when you first get it.

Right. I understand that. However, I have heard some opinions that this particular mask fogs easily or leaks. That's why I am concerned. I have tried on most masks and they seal on my face pretty well

The biggest thing with a mask is to dry fit it in a shop. A good well fitting mask may be the most important piece of gear you have. If it fits well your never know it's there if it doesn't it will bother you the entire dive.

The Shadow is a very nice mask. Mine did fog alot when i got it. If it fogs you just nedd to scrub it more. Once you get the new mask film or whatever it is off the glass it will be like any other mask as far as fog goes. Scru scrub scrub! I have a Sherwood Mako also. It fits my face a hair better but is virtually the same mask. My Shadow is my spare. Both very nice masks. Expect any new mask to need scrubbed.

I bought mine in October and the first time I had to dive it was a pool dive last month. I is a much lower volume mask than my old one, which I like. I had some trouble with fogging, but didn't get time to clean it good before I used it. A small amount of leakage, but really about the same as my old mask. I have a mustache and even if I trim it I still get a little leakage there. I have not gotten mad enough to shave it all off. All in...

Jamie's husband speaking here: Yep, Got mine last week. Spent a couple of hours in the pool with them. Took a little getting use to as expected. Very light and plenty of torque and I'm 6'2" 270lbs. I mostly Tec Dive but bought these for the Rec. diving in the ocean with my wife. The have a somewhat delay if you really put your legs into them but move you right along. I mostly Frog Kick out of habbit and had zero problem...

Bifocal mask

Anyone dive with a bifocal mask? How does it work for you? I finally had to get bifocal glasses after blowing it off my last two precriptions so now I wondering if I'll need a new mask when I start diving again in the spring and if so, willIhave the same need for bifocals undrwater.

Insurance... insurance, 500 bucks would have bought a lot of dives. Ah what the heck if you got it spend its only money and you can't take it with you when you go. I'm to cheap, I hate spending more $35.00 on a mask I have lost to many.

I usually find sticking my fingers inside the face opening (usually at the cheek just below the mask) and letting a little water in helps with equalization going down. Also, once I'm back on the surface I'll pull the sides of the hood out (again by sliding the fingers in the face opening) and tilt my head to let the water drain from my ears. Having holes big enough to let the water drain in ...

My Hollis F1 came with the straps set to the largest they could be. I was able to tighten the fit by removing the nuts and screws on one side of each fin. Then push the spring further into it's pocket and install only the one screw and nut set to engage the spring deeper. This can be done on the other side also to make the spring tighter still. In the case of needing to loosen the fit the spring...

InstaDry booties ROCK. LOVE them. I won't buy any other kind. They're expensive, though, and frankly they wear out faster than many other kinds. You'll toss them because they've literally worn out, not because they stink to high heaven, though. Mine have ~200 dives on them and still smell like normal neoprene, nothing else. And it ain't because my feet don't stink like everyone else's. ...
