I called ST, but I guess they are closedfor the holiday. I was/am ready to order 2 suits but still have a couple of questions before I take the plunge. Guess I will try back later.

Thanks gang. I appreciate the feedback. On a related note, does anyone know anything about the Mares Ice suits that ST has on sale? They seem pretty reasonably priced at a little over $500 for mens sizes. Of course, when you have a zero knowledge base pretty much everything looks good.

Ankle Weights

The fit is probibly a pro fit but not my suit issued to me by local fire department and for the time being will have to do. I don't have the funds avalible at this point to buy my own suit. Was planning to learn on this suit for a little while and then purchase my own suit when funds availible. Like I said before 90% of my diving is done in water that if in trouble I just need to stand up.

I believe that suit is a "compressed" neoprene, which is different than a "crushed" neoprene. When I was first looking at drysuits, almost everyone universally told me to avoid the compressed neoprene as they are known to degrade over time, lose elasticity and prone to leaks, etc. In the North East, the drysuits I see frequently are DUI, Whites, and Bare. I don't think you can go wrong with DUI, however...

Thanks, that answered some of my questions. Now if I could only find a sizing chart in inches insteady millimeters, I'd be set!

Whites Fusion Seal Sizing Question

I trimmed them with a pair of sewing scissors and all seals now fit snug and leak proof. I think I took off 2 rings on the wrists and 4 rings on the neck seal. It is still pretty snug on land but seems fine underwater.

A few things you will likely need: More weight. Don't want too much on a belt so maybe a steel backplate. Bigger fins. The ones that fit over your 5mm booties probably won't do for rock boots or rubber drysuit boots. Undergarments are as important as the outer dry shell.

I found this thread on the other board. Mares Mobby ICE Fit 4.0 Drysuit - ScubaBoard
It says all seals are latex.
I think I am going to call ST and get some more info, see if the large would fit me? They don't show having any X-large so I may be screwed?

Before you rush out for ankle weights, get to the bottom of why your feet are floating. Is it because your fins are positively buoyant, is it improper weighting, maybe you have floaty (fat) legs?
Are you properly trimed? It could be your carrying weight too high on your upper body, thus giving you the feeling that your legs are going up, when it's really your torso going down.
Are you properly...

Before cutting the neck seal, try stretching it over a tank overnight to let it stretch out some. If that doesn't work, stretch it over something, PVC pipe or tank might work, and use a razorblade to take one right off at a time. You can always go back and take a ring off, but you can't put one back on.

Are you looking for seals to do the work yourself, or are you looking for other places to do the work? OS Systems is the go-to place for DIY repair. Make sure you know what you're doing, or pick up a copy of the Airspeed Press drysuit maintenance book.
Local repairs are great when they're an option, but the most common places to send the suit out for repairs, other than manufacturers, ...

What is you comfort zone? Some folks have used the same BCD because they are comfortable and familiar with it and don't want to change. It seems that a lot of folks that switch to a dry suit also migrate to a BP/W. In some circles, the BP/W set up is more comfortable and easier to control that a BCD.
I'm inclined to suggest that you do a few dives with the BCD's and see how it feels/works ...

The best suit for antartica would be something in the 1/2" conpressed neophrene that's at least 1 size larger as you'll need at least polarfleece 800 to maintain the warmth. the better option is a warm water suit, but that's a surface tender suit and all.
Not to mention a lot of more specialized gear-water is literally 30f all year. Yes, that's correct: 30f!!!!
