Let me add one thing... I just read the original printing date... about 20 years ago... that could be why this was - back then, many instructors were left to make up their own skills as not nearly as much guidance was given by training institutions... So, I can understand how that happened, and hope it would not happen in todays training environment. That all being said - dealing with active panic like that is very common, especially when you...

My experience with being narc'd has come from making some really bad diving decisions, in the past, that aren't to be repeated now that I have become wiser. Traveling on a liveaboard, thru the Bahamas, the Captain's son and I made deep bounce dives on a regular basis. One particular occassion remains very vivid in my mind and made me realize that what we were doing was very stupid and potentionally deadly. On this particular...

So far I have only been down to 120 feet, but I have never felt anything different on any of my dives. Maybe I'm just not aware of the changes in myself, but there certainly hasn't been any different feeling.

Congrats on the decision and best of luck! Most folks rank it as one of the best, if not the best, courses they've taken. Let us know your thoughts on it when you're done.

Not the same but here who I did my DM over a period of about six months. Started in the winter and finished during the summer. This was with a local shop. This option worked for me as I had my real job and did this on the weekend mostly some nights. While I helped with classes almost every other weekend during the summer, sometime more, I could work it around my schedule as needed. Cost was ...

If you have the cert you have an easier time demo diving suits at things like D.O.G. Days and such.
The cert might help cover emergency situations too. But that is about it.

I am sure it is one of the better DMT programs nationwide. Most large
commercial diving schools also offer the program. Always check for
accreditation and minimum entry corriculum.

Depends on the shop... We include the certification on all our classes included in the class price - but shops are free to do what they want.

The truth is, you need both...the first part of the IDC is the AI, you will be required to pretty much do all of the DM test again. The Instructor part is fairly easy compared to the AI.

1) Do you think just having DM cert brings with it more legal liability when diving in general and not in a DM capacity?
2) Do you have to maintain insurance with your DM cert? How much does that cost?
3) Does your DM cert earn you anything? Real cash money? Benifits with a dive shop (free air, free boat trips, free maintanence on gear, dicount on gear...
