From what I have learned this is a McCall. Maybe some of the older OPC racers here have seen this one. Notice the wood cross support between the sponsons at the front. Notice also that it is a sit down and not a kneeler.

Let's hear from anyone that was involved with these organizations. Please post any comments, photos, videos or other info that pertains to this. For those that don't know, When NOA(National Outboard Association) folded a group of people that had been involved got together and formed IORA(International Outboard Racing Association). Later it was changed to NORA( National Outboard Racing Association). NORA held some great racing events....

Here is a 60hp Scott ad. I now think these were nice looking and compact engines at the time. Much lighter than the 50hp 4 V4 which wieghed about a 100lbs more. As the son of a Merc dealer, I was a bit biased against anything that wasn't a Merc. Still think the Mercs had better lowerunits though.

Shot #21 says " going, going....." and the next says " GONE"......!!!! The last is of the safety boat dragging Joe back to shore. I don't believe they ever put him in the boat, just hooked him in the water and pulled him to shore. I didn't go to where they brought him in, just didn't want to see what may have happened. Thanks for the memories Joe !

I was around NOA when I went to college at UT in Knoxville. I ran a couple races with them. I think the last race I ran with NOA was Kingston in 1985. I also went to several races with a couple of drivers that ran v bottoms out of the E Tn area. The v-bottom classes were really big in the late 70's and early 80's in that area of the county. Every thing from 3cylinders to twin V-6's. As I ...

Wecome aboard Kris, I was lucky enough to see your dad run quite a few times, unfortunately I don't have any pictures, I'll see if my buddies might.
It was neat as hell watching him, always made a picture perfect pass unless he had mechanical problems(which wasn't often).

was such a smartass. Worked with him in early 80s at Longwood Marine in FL. Bought a couple Merc cleavers from him that he ran in JP, they didn't work for me. He bought my Vandal which Matt Gent (on this board) is now rebuilding. I raced with Meekins for years too. Small world.

Next old tunnel, boat no. 411 raced by Robert Hamontree. Story is, Robert built a tunnel from a Popular Mechanics plan. It did not work so he built a second one and incorporated his own ideas and this is the second boat. Powered by a 150 Chrysler stacker he actually did quite well winning a number of races against OMC and Merc racing engines of the time. (1972) Sadly, the boat was wrecked bad in ...

Dave S's BP cutaway deserves the same attention. It was posted in the days of dial up and the scan is lo res and small. I'll look for the original chemical print and rescan it ... it also occured to me, that it shows a double sided SSM prop gear being driven by 2 drive shafts, very similar to a regular left inline SSM for visual understanding.
