good thing about your boat is you can use the meter from both sides, you can also save yourself the trouble and set a very shallow hole saw or use a cut off wheel to cut just the skin off the inside and check the core the next step after a boat that shows elevated moisture is a core sample, it would be foolish for one to rely just on the meter readings as they can get a anomaly from time to time.

It seems very easy to cross the boarder from NY to Canada and pick up a Hull and bring it back, But is it possible? When I was in Boat Sales you were able to sell used overseas but not new. Is there anything about buying used and trailering back across the boarder? Fees, registration issues? anything I should Know?

How many HP does it take to go 151 in an STV? What's next for you guys (Michael Dixon, Hank, Warren etc.)? Are there new Stv's that will go faster? What bottom is it for these STV's. Michael was going to run a 12 in prop how did that work out. Thanks. Smitty

21' Skater or flip - 73 new posts
Started 1 week, 3 days ago (2008-11-22 09:21:00)  by Stein
Hey guys - just want to pick your brains... Considering similar variables such as price, power and overall condition, would you be more inclined to purchase a late 80's 21' Skater that has been extensively redone or a mid 2000's 21' Skater flip such as an Extreme 21 or a Trick '21? Considering same current power like a 300X etc... It looks like they're going for around the same price on the...

I was by myself, so no way to video it. I hope to next time. I was very surprised that the boat could be driven at those speeds. If the boat had a pad, I'm sure it would really scream. I told the wife about it. She asked if I had a death wish! I just said "NO" but it sure was fun! Here's some more pics from today.

but still too heavy for it's power. The 90s V4 90-degree loopers were really nice running engines. But I'd put it on a fishing or family boat before putting it on that Viper, unless you plan to modify the engine and make it produce more power (like 150+ minimum). That's the only way it could justify it's weight on a 15', 550-lb. hull. As noted, I'd go for a 2.4L V-6 Merc before installing that ...
