TD05 OR 06?
Published (2009-11-25 21:05:00)
Hope for the best and prepare for worst. The first thing my Andy.F asked when mapping my car with the 16g was, "are you bothered about the gearbox". The answer was "no" and it was mapped to 1.5bar. No point being delicate with the transmission, may as well have less power and beat the hell out of it and be quicker IMHO. TY754 btw. You may or may not be okay. It would be unwise not to budget for a broken box...

Some people are quite hashy and break almost anything given to them. Others with a degree of mechanical sympathy get on fine for a long time with a TY752 five speed box and a TD05-06 20G. Anyone who does regular drag starts and drives their car hard may lack a bit of perception or knowledge if they do not realise that the gearbox may need replacement from time to time. A number of people are running TY754 boxes in the 400-500 bracket and there...

Not what you want to hear but you'll have to change that much on the sport it will be more easier, cheaper and quicker to just go out and buy a turbo version.
It's really not worth while doing. That i'm afraid is the cold hard truth. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

Your auto button can operate the air con, It shouldn't have a massive effect on fuel consumption, then again if your system needs regassing it's quite possibly not working at all! It's got to be worth getting it checked , peoples misconseptions of aircon is very common. Heating and cooling has nothing to do with aircon. I'd say get it checked out have an aircon service not just a regas

Welcome, and I hope you're right, but you also need to be a bit careful with "cheap fixes" like that. The MY99-00 airflow meter is legendary for its fragility, and, having taken a few of them apart to see exactly how they go wrong, would caution you against believing that you've restored yours to as new condition simply by shooting some carb cleaner through it.
A "cheap fix" that results in a ...

I'm definitely no expert, but I had a very similar problem. my 06 STI would overheat very occasionally, and only after a long hard run. It took 2 visits to the dealership for them to diagnose it as a head gasket... when they did the test for exhaust gases in the coolant.
Like you I sometimes get the running water noise, so I was hoping it was some sort of airlock.
If its still under ...

As far as I know, you need to move the clutch fluid res out of the way, but apparently there is a bracket available for this (I also wanted to do the same mod to MY99)

2004 wrx would be same wing as any 2004 saloon, only wings that are different are the wagon ones as they have no flared arches. yours could be a euro import, are the front seats airbagged or non airbag as import cars have better front seats, same as sti but in wrx material. I have fitted a pair of these to my uk wrx and they are much better.
