Look for the simplest solution first. y=x will solve the value but not the arc length since the length is sqrt(2). Next level up, y=ax(x-1), solves both conditions. Now you have control over the constant a. y=ax^2-ax y'=2ax-a (y')^2=4a^2x^2-4a^2x+a^2 You can go from there and calculate arc length. Then set up an inequality INT[0,1,sqrt(1+(y')^2 dx)] > 2.5 and you will find a relationship that gives you a...

They came in for a reason. Either they find food there, or it's simply warmer there than outside. Probably the latter, since they will be looking to winter over in there.

Planets ORBIT the sun. Moons ORBIT planets. The planets are caught in the gravitation field of the sun. The moons are caught in the gravitational field of the planets. Pluto has not gotten close enough to a planet to get caught up in its gravitational field. Revolve pertains rotate or spin, (not orbit) as in a planet revolves on it's own axis.

a) Since 4 and 3x are not constant multiples of one another and the DE is of degree two, {4, 3x} is a fundamental set of solutions for y'' = 0. The general solution is y = A * 4 + B * (3x) for some constants A and B. b) Since -3e^(-2x) and e^(-2x) are constant multiples of one another and the DE is of degree two, {-3e^(-2x), e^(-2x)} is not a fundamental set of solutions for y''+4y'+4y = 0. It's just how you consider the time frame. When the combustion occurs, the piston is at the top of its stroke. The combustion happens so fast that you can consider the cylinder with its piston a constant volume. Then, the resulting hot gases drive the piston down, of course.

When you open out the cone, the tip becomes the centre of a circle, radius (= slant height) 4cm, so if it were a complete circle its circumference would be: 2 x pi x r = 8pi Now the length around the base of the cone = 4.8pi = the length around the curved edge of the paper, so the proportion of a circle that the flat paper covers is: 4.8pi / 8pi = 0.6 of a circle, in other words, 0.6 of...
