There is an ebay listing for a Virgil Finlay
pencil sketch that looks a lot like what I remember the Paper edition of HERE ABIDE MONSTERS looks like. Can someone check to see if a) the cover art for that book is by Findlay or b) give me the link to Jay's excellent cover art site. The auction ends 10/24 and the $500 opening bid is a bit high for me. http://cgi.ebay.com/ORIGINAL-...

There are some links floating around, including in the
Literary Estate discussion (and this unrelated blog post from July 2008 , that no longer work. I want to preserve the articles in this thread for historical reference (although we may receive takedown notices we'll have to honor, I hope that won't happen). Please keep in mind that some of the statements made by the press have been ...

Something like the Snake eating it's own tail. Or the tail wagging the dog. In the October '08 Locus magazine is a tiny news article. "
Richard A. Knaak & Sylvio Tabet sold Beastmaster: Myth, based on the Beastmaster films to marco Palmieri at Pocket via Donald Maass. " This makes my stomach wonky (or perhaps I just need to go eat lunch).

I occasionally browse blog search to see who is talking about my favorite authors. This morning I was pleased to find two brief references to Andre by people who mentioned they had never read her work before. The Estcarp Cycle of The
Witch World novels by Andre Norton. Running across this author, apparently one of the grande dames of sci-fi, revealed yet another appalling hole in my ...

Have any of you read this? It is hardly Norton at all in my opinion. At Amazon.com read the
Publishers Weekly review describing it as a "cliche-strewn mess that resolves few of the many plot-lines" and with a "threadbare unconvincing plot". The beginning stulifies the reader with an endless list of characters with long names and even longer titles. I recommend acquiring it only when remaindered ...

The computer ghods where I work have decreed that personal email is a possible source of Business computer virus spreading. Hence, in an effort to stop these cold, they have blocked personal email from the office computers. So, any email mailed to me via the link (clicking on my name) or direct, will only be read on those evenings when I remember to go upstairs and boot the home ...

Just thought I would share some interesting (at least to me) information that I come up with about
the short story "Garen of Yu-Lac". It seems that it was going to be a three part series in the Magazine "Spaceway Science Fiction" by Fantasy Publishing. In the Volume 4 Number 3 Sept/Oct 1969 Issue the story is marked as “Part One of Three” and then in the Volume 5 Number 1 May/June 1970 Issue ...

In another thread, Irene wrote: Quote: The problem, as I see it, is that Andre Norton probably never fixed a set of years. This information could be in her private notebooks, but not to my knowledge. I was aware, many years ago, of the
Juanita Coulson book that Andre commissioned. When Andre was shown my Witch World sites, she reportedly...

I've been reading through many Witch World books by ordering them through my local library. I've been trying to form some coherent timeline out of things (though I know this has been attempted before). At this time I'm concentrating on the year system used in the Dales and Arvon. My current assumption is that the system is cyclical or at least the years are predictable in some logical way (...

I found that several titles, including those, were recently reprinted by
WildSide press, Alan Rodgers Books & some others. I bought copies on ebay from a dealer that just calls themselves "buy", but the copies came in, and were as described. Pretty generic reprints. I believe that some of the older titles are now, sort of, in the public domain.
