C2 Warning Light Problem
Published (2009-11-30 11:20:00)
> You may want to check out the proximity locator switch mounted on the door air-cylinder. This is the switch that tells the computer when the door is opened or closed. Depending on what the switch is telling the computer, your lights will activate. I would dare bet that the sensor is not parked in the right spot on the cylider to read where the internal piston is. These can bee a bit of a bugger to get positioned correctly. Your best bet...

> Reading the thread about the 466 made me think. I wonder what the opinion on the best engine out there is? This is for fun so don't get bent out of shape if someone doesn't like your engine. Three catagories: Best current production, Best diesel of all time, Best gasoline of all time. (School bus application only on these) My opinion is: Current production- I don't have enough information to form an informed opinion. Best...

DT466 Engines and IC Buses
Published (2009-11-28 15:04:00)
> Around 1970 the first DT466s were produced for agricultural equipment (Farmall 3488 Diesel) and in 1975 it was first made available for use in medium duty trucks. These were very tough engines, the only drawbacks being the rotary injector pump and the use of tappets rather than roller cam followers. Our next unit was...

The ride is much better and the maintenance is much less. We've encountered no drawbacks and the maintenance on them is rare. (We have all hydraulic brakes).

I am reminded of a line from one of the Star Trek movies, "...the more compicated the plumbing the easier it is to stop up the drains..." How true that aphorism has become. I ...
