I think it`s just a matter of taste really. As long as you stay away from the Revell SnapTite Peterbilt 359 and the Snaptite Kenworth W900, you`re golden (the regular Revell of Germany`s Pete 359 and Kenworth are great though!). The ultra-american semi would be (in my eyes) a Peterbilt 359 with a AMT Fruehauf refer trailer though.

I just checked my kit and it was produced in '06. Seems like it was longer ago,but I guess it wasn't. I haven't checked my original Mount 'n Goat kit yet to compare them.

Hiya, Mr.Meteor.  Your right its a very subjective question and a matter of personal taste fer sher, don't mean to give a bum steer -- forgot there are different REV Pete 359 kits. I've got one of the snap jobs. They can be found in stores here ( Canada) for about 25 to 30 dollars -- cheap!   IMO logging trucks are pretty cool looking too. Ya, I'll agree that vans are quintessential North American...

Well here is my start. I bought an AMT International Paystar 5000 Cement Mixer kit for the chassis components. The kit doesn’t have the proper CAT 3406 motor or Allison transmission, but it isn’t that big of a deal for this model. I just hope to build a nice curbside model with some basic detail on the chassis. To start the chassis had to be extended a significant amount. I added 1.64” ...

Hiya, I 've got a couple comments that might help you decide. Firstly, the REV Peterbilt 359, while not a bad kit, started life as a snap-tite kit and has simplified chassis and suspension, etc.Not even in the same league as the AMT truck kits. The AMT Peterbilt tow truck is a great kit ( considered by some to be the "best" truck kit ever) , I'd recommend that one because there is a lot more to ...

Ok, here`s the tank so far, this was a days work in itself It`s rough now, but with a little filler and sanding I think it`s gonna be fine. It seems I made the tank too round, but I am NOT taking it apart to correct that now! Think it will still look OK when it`s done. Gonna take the dolly off an AMT Fruehauf tanker truck and make the rear suspension and will also use ...

Ted, A few years back SAE ran an article about building the 2WD high-performance Tahoes that the NYSP uses. In my part of the state (mid-Hudson valley) those are what we see, though not so much anymore. I'm sure you know what I'm referring to. Are the wheels on the unmarked Tahoes different? Let me know, and if they're the same I'll search through my back issues looking for the article - ...

Hiya, your Autocar turned out pretty good eh. I love to rescue/ rebuild old models and have one on my bench that I'm building into a single axle " short box" , I too started with half a model - only the floor and ram tunnel of the box, but mostly everything else major was there.I'm using a Kenworth cab/front end / frame because it was in the box of parts I shortened the frame about 18" and ...
