Try
Castrol Super Clean. I've used it with great results in the past. Try soaking in a plastic container overnight, It should work well with the Testors enamel.

For Primer I use Plasticote T235 sandable primer, T 235 is the only Plasticote Primer that is Compatible with Plastic. To strip I use the samething I do for everything;
Castrol Super Clean. For thiner I use the same brand as the Lacquer I am spraying.

You might try Model Empire; they may be the only place that might help at this point.

I believe your problem is in your mix formula . You are too heavy on your thinner ratio . Your thinner is drying so rapidly that it is pulling the metallic together as it flashes out . Try going with a 2 : 1 paint to thinner ratio and see where that takes you .

I always use a silver base on stright up pearl colors . Actually , it is
Testors Aluminum Metallizer. It acts as a nice reflective quality for a base . I use my polishing kit on the prepped body , starting with 4000 and make my way up to 12000 under cold running water . I then blow dry the body off with 100 # s of compressed air . I then shoot the body with the Metallizer , instead of primer ...

Depending on factors like indoor temperature and humidity, I'd give it 6-8 hours. 105 degrees is a good temperature. When I have doubts, I made up a "test sample" and put it in with the body. I take it out and see how it sands or polishes before I try it on the body.
