Some small updates... Cab now has additional detail: door sills and bracing, and some other interior bracing. There are some new cast resin tires and inserts (the old ones, will add the new, wider inserts soon) painted satin black and ready to go. I've built a tractor-style grille out of an inverted '29 Revell track nose, cut down with the grille opening widened and scratchbuilt grille added. I don't like...

Here is a few shots of the interior and look at the newly painted body on the frame. As you can see, I went with flat black. This is different for me as i always do the shiny showroom type finishes. This was cake compared to all that buffing and polishing!

well the body has been covered in clear, and the main body has been polished. i did have a slight mishap with the fenders, i cut too far back and went through to the plastic. it was only a small spot but it was noticeable so i had to recover the fenders with a base and top coat, will re lacquer it in the next couple of days. i applied bare metal for the trim and decided to keep the grill in body colour. here a few shots of the car outside and...

Oh man, this is gonna be awesome! I can't wait to see the finished, weathered product! It's like deja vu for me. At work today, I was planning out what to do with my leftovers from the same Revell '29 pickup kit and came up with a very similar scenario. I even ordered the Sophisticated Finishes rust surfacing kit and some plastruct rails for the frame during my lunch...

copcarbuilder: Those mags look old school, paint the centres blacks and the rims chrome you will have the old style Cragars which would look period correct for a Lincoln of that era. Personally I like the 61-68 Lincolns but I cringe when people customize these classics. Call me old school but this is one car the designers got right the first time and any customizing is heresy. I built several of these cars and I love them, the only...

phil: I am woking on much the same. What are you using for a frame. I have the "new" revell mono version. ! have a 48 ford frame that fits and it has a much better flathead. The "new" kit has 60's moulded floor pan with exhausts. Block is 60's tech, kind of a blob representation with moulded in exhaust maniflods. Since revell has access to better parts (41 ford woody,48 ford woody and ragtop) I...

i have to adapt the rear pan, as i'm sure that many have come across this before. the rear pan only fits the "smoothster" and testors did not supply a pan that would fit the body of the "coupster" the sections will be fixed to the fenders and moulded in, leaving the seam line between the pan and body from the line of sight.
the bonnet (hood), now fits the way i want. the cowl ...

With the frame well under way, I wanted to turn my attention towards the suspension. I knew that the rear axle was going to be too short from my previous readings of other threads. And the airbags, well they gotta go!
I figured the best way to go about lengthening the axel was to cut the center out and build off it from there using evergreen stock. First drilled a hole through the ...

Wow!
Your Nova is awesome, the paint is outrageously smooth and shiny!!
The stance is nice and the big block looks right at home.
Congratulations for such a great build!

Hey Andy:
Nice Start, that is going to look sweet. Looks like the competition is going to be tough. Hope we both get done.

I think you did a super job converting the rear fenders back to stock configuration. It is most certainly noticeable. It's nice to see that you thought of doing this, and did it so well. Gary

I have just one criticism for you and I know this is nit picking..."Ranchero's" were made by Ford, Chevy built the "ElCamino" as it's response to that market. Since the Chezoom is basically a Chevy (redesigned by the late Boyd Coddington), please call it an "El Camino". Other than the name, you have built a nice looking model!!! B.

Hi,
I've been thinking about it. I've got the AMT Graffiti kit but haven't got the Revell 5-window yet. When I do get one I'll have a look to see how well they would work as a kit-bash project.
One thing that would definitely need to be changed on the Revell 32 kit would be the engine as Milner's car ran a small block chevy with rare intake set-up. Speaking of which - does anyone know...
