Maple Thinline Telecaster - Page...

The gluing of the sides has begun this morning. I came up with the idea of starting with the smallest radius first, That way, if something is off, I can ease slack around a larger curve much easier than trying to get it to tuck into a tiny notch where the wood isn't bent properly. Anyway. Here's a picture of the clamping rig I came up with. The clamp on the left in this pic is really just there to add counter pressure on the back...

While I don't care for the contemporary designs that Marks uses, his technique and art are beyond question. You did a great job of capturing that element with this piece. Wonderful art, and great execution. And.... dang, what a process!!! I thought my flat work glue ups were a pain! I will never complain again. Well, I probably will, but you know what I mean!

Great looking project! My wife and I grew a vining spinach this year in the garden, it worked very well and was easy to harvest. I would recommend trying some of that out next season.

That's a neat project, Walt and very well executed. For not trying to "pop" the grain on that QSWO, the ray flecks really show up well. I really like that finish. Thanks for sharing it with us.

Thanks all for the nice words. Two ways of doing these, and you guessed both. My first few were stack-cut on the bandsaw. Now I have complimentary jigs. I get them close on the bandsaw, and use the shaper with a pattern bearing and a straight cutterhead.

Construction photos. These show the cardboard mockup that I used to generate dimensions, gluing up the upright, details of the underside and the final glue-up which is held together with glue and dowels.

I think its great. That first piece of furniture is always a worry to make. Some nice drawer pulls will make it stand out more. If your wife is like my wife she should have her choices narrowed down in a month or so.
good job.
