Makita Compact Driver $80 at Ace
Published (2009-11-28 15:03:00)
For those of you not looking for a compact, Ace also had the Dewalt 18v Drill/Driver on sale for $80 (the dc970k-2, goes for $130 on Amazon), and a Makita 18v Drill/Driver for $90 (I think the 6281DWPLE, but Im not sure on that model number). I ended up grabbing the Makita compact from my OP - nice little unit. It weighs a TON less than my Bosch, and will fit into lots of places the bigger one wont.

Sold out in minutes! glad I changed my mind about going there. Instead I went to Harbor freight and picked up a portable shop crane normally 179.99 was on sale yesterday for 99.00 plus 20% off coupon made it $79.99. After wrestling my 15" Jet Planer out of the truck, it will be nice to have a way of getting future tool purchases out of my truck without worrying about dropping them.

Low Price Alert Sears clearance...

You don't really know what you are going to find when you go look at something on that site. I went to look at a tool box listed as reconditioned at the Toledo store. Apparently reconditioning involves dropping it off a truck on the corner and making it good for not much more than scrap.

Thomas, We are both right...the planer close to you is new...the planers close to me are refurbished and advertised as such by Sears. We could have both expressed what we found locally. I could have written "I think these all the planers might be refurbs since the ones close to me are advertised that way" ...while you could have written "the one near me seems to be new according to the site" I apologize if I...

They have a 3/4 oak also with a hardwood back for the same price. Works better for painted cabinets than just an AC plywood. You could also probably use it for stained cabinets, if the inside isn't a big deal.

If you have a local Lowes store, they have this same package for the same price. They also have the drill/driver and impactor combo for $199.

Jim,
Thanks for the link, but it looks more like a 10% off sale than 40%.
Probably high quality, but they are still expensive even on sale.

Jason,
Thanks for the heads-up on this. Perfect item for my wife for Christmas.
Does the sale start after Thanksgiving or this Monday?

"You can never have too many clamps" that keeps going through my mind, but I must resist this time around. That is a pretty good price basically equal to the ealier deal since you dont have to pay shipping, except now you get nailed with sales tax.

I was wondering if it might go up. I looked earlier and it was still at 8%. I feel like I'm at a casino. Should I buy now or roll the dice and see if it will go higher...hmm.

AFAIK, the Grizzly ad prices are phone order only. The internet only shows prices for the bi-yearly sales, not the monthly magazine ads.
My advice however, is worth exactly what you paid for it.
