You may have received a bad one. The proof of the pudding is to check it with a real thermometer. Also verify that you have good flow back into the reservoir from the vent line of the top of the manifold. That line and its flow is critically important. Most of the thermostats will be a STANT manufactured units regardless of which colored box its in.

Perhaps maybe try rotating the bottom pulley on the side of the motor (that's hooked to the S-belt) CLOCKWISE a few times and see if it turns over? Failing that, how good is your air filter?

No, that's not right. And you may have finally hit on something. The voltage shoudn't drop so much that it kills the always-on circuit. 'Course, one possibility is that this radio is just overly sensitive to voltage drop, and loses its memory when you engage the starter.

Ok, the SES light is off but i noticed something else. Like i said i am not a mechanic so i am not sure about how the car is suppose to drive, but i noticed something a few days ago. When the car is about to shift into second or third it seems to jerk, or a better word would be chug. It would chug chug chug lightly, but noticebly until it finally shifted up. It could of always done this, or it could be a new symptom but i really dont know. I...

No need to replace it. It rarely fails.

Probably really do not need the filter on the return. Just flush with your final fluid and run it for a week and then suck out the reservoir and refill with fresh fluid. There is minimal wear in that system.
If you have ABS a brake system flush can be a large undertaking. Might want to farm that one out as a pressure bleeder is the only easy way to do it.

Flat is better than gloss and both are a real nightmare to keep clean.

At this point I might take the radio out of the car, put it on a bench and connect to a battery, watch to see whether or not it holds memory in that situation. That would help isolate the issue to being with the radio or something going on in the car.

Hi there,
I am curious about this too, since my car also does it. Mine seems to change gears if there is a change in load on the engine, like a slight incline, then returns to the previous gear. Is it that way on your car too?

CBOSS IS BACK!
I can actually say I looked forward to your other saga. Kinda of glad you solved it, but kinda of miss the interesting problem and the troubleshooting you did.
The only special thngs (off the top of my head) would be a good torque wrench, piston ring compressor, and cylinder hone.
While tou are down there, throw in a new oil pump just for reassurance, and of course new ...

According to the parts book you should have a support bracket that attaches to the intake manifold on top. If that bracket does not have a bolt attaching it to the pump then you use the pump with only 2 threaded holes. the threaded hole has a long bolt that screws into the end of the top bracket.

Are you gauging your gas mileage by what the gauge is showing you, or do you have concrete numbers based on miles driven between fill-ups and the gallons of said fill up? That's the numbers that matter. You take miles driven/gallons filled.
When you fill up just above E, how much are you putting in? For me, it's always triggered right at 2 gallons left (10 gallons burnt).

28, purchased 4/29/2003 with 23,800 miles. Before me, not sure of its history, but it was in perfect shape. The most major repairs were the clutch replacement over labor day, after I let someone overfill my transmission and the leaking trans. fluid contaminated the clutch. All's good now, and no leaking with the fluid at the correct height and not replacing the quill seal (yeah, got lucky). ...

It's an OEM factory CD unit, so yeah, it should be plug and play. But that's dang expensive. You can buy the metra kit, adapters and such for around $25 shipped, then buy a nicer stereo for $100 or so (probably won't get amber illuminatin without searching some, though) or get everything from crutchfield for $150

It can be one of several ignition parts and the easiest way to check them is; remove the coil wires, after noting firing order, and have someone crank the engine while you look for spark across the coil towers. No spark usually means the crank position sensor (CPS) failed (above and behind the starter, mounted with one 10mm bolt) and the alternate can be the ignition module. More cps' fail than ...

As a heads-up, there was a G.M. TSB for the air pump on a number of models. I've heard that cleaning near and on the air pump will help resolve the P0410. Just helped someone with this code not too long ago.

Did you notice, when you cleaned the reservoir, whether the float "rattled" freely? If it didn't, it may still be stuck. Alas, the float is integral to the reservoir, so if it's failed, it's new tank time. First thing - check that the connector is snugly plugged in.
Wait - "wire"? As in singular? If so, perhaps there's your trouble. There should be two wires going to that connector. One of ...
