Petrol Engines

I must admit to being an advocate of petrol over diesel, and not just on Saabs. The issues on the old engines were sludge related because the recommended oil was semi synthetic and this caused excessive wear. How much of a rework the new engines are over the old is not something I can't answer but fully synthetic oil is standard now and that makes a big difference to both engine and turbo life. I'm on my third Saab, the first a 9-5...

Well I cranked up the n/s headlight 3 full turns and the o/s 2 turns, and no one has flashed me on the way home tonight. Not sure how much better they are, as I was stuck behind several cars on the lanes, but will report back when I get a clear run. Have to say the light still looked dull though. Also noticed that the car in front, an old BMW, was lighting up the hedge to the side much higher than I was, so I suspect it's beam pattern as...

What bit of the existing key is broken? If the transponder is OK then the other key may work alongside it and a dealer could marry it to your car. Only dealers seem to have the Tech2 computer. They are rare in private hands. Cost of Tech2 is around £2500 - $3500!!

Macgyver, That's correct - both H7s. There are plenty of places out there so you should be able to get them at a good price - Googling 'Osram Nightbreaker' should find you the best deal. I'll dig up some links after brekky. Rick

I upgraded my Vectras headlights with Osram silverstar +50% bulbs, they were great compared to std bulbs. They are still available but the newer version are Osram Nightbreaker bulbs. A pair of H7 for dipped beam can be purchased from ebay for as little aS £13. not a bad upgrade for the money - when safety is a concern I would say its hard to put a price. I hope they are easier to change than the Vectra ... you needed Jeremy Beadle to lend a...

QUOTE(sgould @ 17 Nov 2009, 22:35 ) Always assuming that your self levelling hasn't failed. If it has the lights drop to the lowest position. But if this happens you should get a warning message on the dash. But if one thing has failed........? Don't think she'll have self levelling, that's only present on the HID Xenon lights. Angie said in her first post that she doesn't have Xenons.

Back on topic Called in at Nidd Vale Harrogate and they said they wouldn't do the Stage 1 for less than 700 pounds, but that was me on my own...... Even if 500 pounds I think I will have to settle for 210 hp as I have an expensive hobby....

Joe, Welcome. You might be better to look at the classic 9-3/GM900 forum since this one is for the MY03 onwards SS model. It's likely that the software is a bit different between the two models. Have you contacted a Saab dealer or independent? They should have all of the right computers to help you. Regards, Paul

Welcome, The Vectors are better spec'd in general but a Linear with lots of toys might get there. With a 58 plate you should be clear of the diesel issues that populate this site and you'll have 2 years manufacturers warranty as a cushion. Just enjoy the drive and see what you think, if there is a petrol car there have a drive in that too. Paul

This happened to me twice on different windows, Its a simple fix that a garage will just do for you foc (mine did anyway). The anti pinch needs resetting. Done, if I remember correctly, by disconnecting the door connector with ignition on, reconnecting it then holding the window up button til it beeps.... Hope it works
