>>> it does appear to me there is a bit of a divy interest resurgence taking place after the markets run off the lows <<< In my case, I'm not looking for the income to live off of. My attraction to the dividends was twofold: 1. I didn't expect the market to recover to the old highs very quickly and thought getting paid to wait was a good strategy. 2. During the meltdown, everything was sold...

5 Dividend Raisers with Solid Fundamentals Posted: Nov 26, 2009 13:23 PM by Aryeh Katz It's always a healthy sign when a company raises its annual payout to investors. All the more so when it has a long history of doing so. Here are a few companies that recently upped their yearly dividends. PennantPark Investment Corp. (Nasdaq:PNNT) just raised its quarterly dividend to 25 cents per share, a rise of 4.2% that brings the yearly yield to...

I probably should have not held KMR at arm's length the way I have, it's just that they are always in the local news about lawsuits and such, but doesn't seem to be hurting their bottom line or operations... they are certainly one of the first names one thinks of when pipeline operators/owners are mentioned. Come to think of it, I believe I initially got the idea for EPB from this board... I like their fundies and divvies for...

Looking back on the recent quarter it does look like payout ratio is being squeezed.. so that could be what's being signaled.. I didn't look deep enough to see how they have done on their currency hedges but the rapidity of USD decline must be hurting a bit... I would feel better if the USD stablised here all around as I have the same concern with ATP.UN. Probably wiser to wait and see if the 50 day turns back north.. RBC just...

Keep in mind the convergence of the moving average indicates a lack of momentum in the stock. It usually indicates traders are waiting for some situation to be resolved or some news. The declining OBV indicates heavier volume on the down days, so the predominant trend is to sell. It may just be profit taking after the run from the March lows. I have no idea how good the management is. I usually like to know more about management before before...

Thanks for the input guys. I like CNP as longterm growth divy reinvest play. They are nicely diversified, with electrical and gas distribution to consumers. Add in their gas gathering, processing and piping capabilities in a pretty prolific shale gas area and it seems to make for an interesting investment. And it does appear management is aligned with shareholders. CQP on the otherhand is more of a wildcard, most likely just a trade for me....

Quicken - Problems and Answers....
Published (2009-11-17 18:34:00)
Just finished going through the comments on Amazon re Quicken 2010. A high proportion of the reviews were negative, some extremely negative, esp from migrants from MS Money. There seems to be no compelling reason to switch unless your version is no longer supported. Since I have 2009, I'll revisit that decision in 2012. It seems that if one has to switch it would be wise to wait until Intuit has wrung the bugs of this release.
