My brother and I both own Epson flatbed scanners that can do slides. The results are very high quality and yes, it's time consuming, but not awful.

Stick with a name brand if at all possible. Off brands will leave you high and dry if the TV ever needs repair down the road.
The Visio would probably be OK (good "bang for the buck" brand, and reliability is good). Not top of class, but a good value. Personally I'd lean toward a Panasonic or Samsung if you can find a good deal.
IMHO 1080p isn't as important on smaller screens (unless ...

How The West Was Won
I've been enjoying the episodic classic. The music is excellent. It had a huge budget for the time, as the article I found below details. It was a pretty big hit, I think, but I'm hoping Matt L. will chime in here with his thoughts and expertise about this film.

I generally prefer french dubbing for italian or spanish films (I don't understand italian nor spanish), because the language rhythm is more similar to the original than english.
On the other hand, french dubbing of english/american films is usually terrible, while german dubbing is more acceptable. I watch those in english of course.

My thanks to Rachael Bee for the final post in "Part 3" of this on-going thread. I respect your information, as I know that you've spent a lot on these formats. Since you mentioned that FOX has been hit or miss on their classic back titles, I'll have to read some reviews regarding that upcoming FOX "South Pacific" Blu-ray, before I buy. As for "Sideways", I have read a bunch of reviews that ...

I thought the first three-quarters of the first season was some of the
funniest television that I have ever seen. It was laugh out loud hilarious.
But, I thought it really jumped the shark when Earl went to prison. I
thought if they stayed with the original premise they would have gone on
longer.

Nice timing. I just finished watching an old PBS special on Weegee that I found on a cassette a friend gave me years ago. I didn't know anything about him until I watched it and realized that I had admired his photography without knowing who he was.
I won't post the more graphic crime photos he is known for, just an image of the man and several photos that I find striking/interesting. ...

In fact Michael even mention after Enterprise went off the air of the TV part need about a 10 year rest before the maching is started up again.
Much as I hate to say it, that may not be a bad idea.
How about this idea for the next movie: the Enterprise and her crew encounter an ion storm or other geeky sounding space phenomena, travel ...

My father bought a slide scanner. As you say, it's A LOT of work but like
you he wanted control of the end product. If you don't get a lot of advice
here I'll ask him for some specific feedback.

It's first-run. I could look it up, but IIRC future tabloid fodder Megan Fox is hosting. Will try to catch this if I'm back in by 11:30 tonight.

I thought it was the least impressive of the season openers. It just seemed mean-spirited, with Michael leading the way. Stanley's affair was not really funny.
Just about the only part I found amusing was Andy's (gossip-fueled)doubts about his sexual orientation and the interplay with Oscar.
