Thanks to the magic of the Internet, I just got through watching Taylor's episode. I thought she was in over her head a little bit on some of the skits, but, man, her performance of "Untouchable" was pretty special.

The remake of The Taking of Pelham 123. Thought it was good but it can't beat the original film (and it earned a demerit when director Tony Scott on the commentary track dissed the original film--his remake lacks the sarcastic sense of humor of the first film). Never seen the second remake for TV.

Opening monoloque song was cute, with the body guards singing along. The advert with that pork restaurant and "Swine Fever" was hilarious.

I thought it was the least impressive of the season openers. It just seemed mean-spirited, with Michael leading the way. Stanley's affair was not really funny. Just about the only part I found amusing was Andy's (gossip-fueled)doubts about his sexual orientation and the interplay with Oscar.

Has anyone else seen the short advert for this weekend's episode? Taylor Swift is standing in the SN hallway with Bill Hader. She says, "Hi I'm Taylor Swift. I'll be hosting Saturday Night Live this week." Hader is on a smart phone while she's talking. He move the phone away from his ear and says, "It's Kanye West. He thinks Beyonce should be hosting the show this week,"

Cool video! Thanks for sharing. The movie itself played in 35mm in Seattle last summer, and it fell on the same day as my sister-in-laws graduation from college. I would have loved to see the movie "the way it was meant to be seen," but I do have my priorities. :-) Matt

"Classic pop" hasn't enjoyed the respect it deserves, including the respect of subsequent generations who enjoy the continued vital mainstream presence of their own now-old genres (it's old, from rock to rap) due to being spared the worst of anti-old-fogey-ism or whatever you want to term the chips on shoulders. Classic applies to enough of it, particularly folks like Johnny Mercer. More ...

Sounds like they need a faster color-wheel for the DLP. Some people are more sensitive to it than others. I've never seen that anomoly in a DLP theater, but it is noticible to me on the home projectors.

My thanks to Rachael Bee for the final post in "Part 3" of this on-going thread. I respect your information, as I know that you've spent a lot on these formats. Since you mentioned that FOX has been hit or miss on their classic back titles, I'll have to read some reviews regarding that upcoming FOX "South Pacific" Blu-ray, before I buy. As for "Sideways", I have read a bunch of reviews that ...
