After being here about three months, I've noticed a pattern to those who post in the Music Corner the most. There are three kinds of " listening to music" that members here seem to mention: (1) Casual Listening: Car, workplace, audible wallpaper type listening (2) Critical Listening: You must pay attention to every note, syllable, etc (3) Enjoyable listening: You get lost in the music ...

I was inspired by the best artist live poll. This one is best metal band live in concert. Not necessarily in their prime but at any point. I only listed the bands that have played large arenas. (ie commercial acts) But lesser know acts may be listed too. I saw Iron Maiden for the Somewhere in Time tour in 1987....Great show

Just a reminder Clash fans that this will be released tomorrow in North America. Has any UK board members heard this yet? I believe it was released there today. Apparently, it will be available in two versions, the regular and deluxe. The deluxe edition is a jewel-case size hardbound digipak which includes a 32-page booklet of photos from the concert. It should be a fun day listening ...

Bump, as I'd like some info on this too. And forgive me if this is off-topic, lil.fred, but have you or anyone else heard the 180g Parliament reissues that are in print now?

Alright, something on the light side for a quiet Friday night. What are your favorite 7 songs with each of the weekdays mentioned in the title. Mine: Monday Morning - Fleetwood Mac Ruby Tuesday - The Rolling Stones Wednesday Night Prayer Meeting - Charles Mingus (the only Wednesday song I know) Thursday's Child - David Bowie Black Friday - Steely Dan Another Saturday ...

I remember playing it alot as a kid - my brother and I played ALL the Beatles albums we had alot as kids! Over the passage of time however, it RARELY gets played. As a matter of fact, it was one of many discs stolen from me - and I never missed it. I still don't have a silver disc of it. I borrowed it from someone and burned a copy. I don't really care for side one. Something is ...

For me, it was a Brokedown Palace encore at RFK Stadium... P.S. I don't mean for this thread to be a bum trip, just a bittersweet jaunt down memory lane. Remember as the MP said "nothing lasts."

Hi everyone, My daughter posed an interesting question: Has there ever been an artist or group that his achieved exceptional success but didn't use drugs? I'm pretty sure that if there's an answer to this one, you guys will know this. Thanks!

New Beatles' Thread: (no fear) List ONE - the ONE Beatles' track that sums it up for you. For whatever reason. I will go out on a limb and proclaim for me it's the single version of Get Back. can you do it? can you dig it? -mike

I am curious what artist you all think was the best in a live setting, in their prime. These are all classic rock, and I could only list 25...... J R

this is the time of year when i think about this album, since it was released in late September of 1993.....i was pregnant with my firstborn and gave birth two months later....i would zip around in my car, blasting this and enjoying the darkening days, the gradual chill in the air, the smell of changing/falling leaves, and feeling my fetus kick the hell out of me as if to complain ...

I'd pick 1981's " The Jacksons Live" as a great live release that doesn't get much attention. The set mixes Jacksons tunes new and old with tracks from "Off the Wall" and delivers most of the tunes with real snap and groove. I like the same songs in their studio versions, but the live renditions really improve on them - the songs truly come to life on stage. And that's just musically - I can't...

After listening again to Goats Head Soup and contrasting it to live performance from late 73 I am bewildered. The live shows, imho, were some of the best ever by the band, far superior to GYYYO; the energy, vitality, precision and inspiration were a joy. Contrast the shows to the fine but rather dull GHS and I have to ask what went wrong in the studio. Here was a band that was as much on ...
