Hmm yea I can see where sometimes they might need to carry more equipment (which in most cases an estate would suffice) But around here our local PD have an X5 which I have yet to see doing anything other than pottering around towns. Sometimes i've seen Community Support Officers in them. Never any apparent specialists. Oh and if they REALLY need to carry more equipment then there is something specifically designed for such scenarios....

i suspect a mixture of things... 1 the hierarchy at the local plod make the buying decisions without consulting the shop floor - ie what the guys actually doing the job want 2 someone is making a killing somewhere along the lines of... if we buy a X5 from you at £... can i have a XKR with a sly discount to sit on my driveway 3 different police forces have differing budgets - norfolk police are pretty skint so have a couple of old kitted out...

Spotted this evening in Newport Pagnell ( Milton Keynes area) Silver MK4 Ibiza , was coming towards me and i was concentrating on the icy roads so im not sure if it was FR,Cupra,Sport or wotever , Had Bright headlights i wudnt say they where HID's tho Knight85 maybe? I was the Black Ibiza coming other way with HID's and Slammage

Spotted a yellow Y-reg LCR (did they actually exist on a Y-plate?), or at least a Leon with the LCR front bumper, parked next to a Co-Op near my house in Mansfield, just appeared recently. Anyone on here?

Nope, will have been a pre- facelift LC that someone's put bumpers on. The LCR was introduced in 2002 AFAIK along with the facelift LC.
